Nialls Travels from Monaghan has the best account for discussing football and life. He talks facts and was giving corduff the guff was correct as they crossed the line vs carick. His recommendations on recent holiday destinations was very interesting and insightful. Hopefully WeAreMonghan or Clubber get him on soon as I think Sunday game or Gaa+ will be looking him next as his opinions very thoughtful and always correct. You do know players & management are entitled to legitimate expenses which can add up to significant amounts? Outside management teams are allowed to claim expenses, it's hardly a secret that these amounts could run into thousands a month. And if you knew anything about the conversations being held within the GAA, there's active movement to try and reduce those expenses by insisting counties engage people within their own counties to manage teams. Lets not exaggerate the position.

I dont know much about these dealings,but are you saying that whatever money gaa managers get paid is ALL expenses? Honestly i dont know for a fact but id be shocked if there wasn't an extra few bob thrown in as a sweetener. The fact that outside managers are common within the gaa would suggest clubs and counties would be vying for their expertise (caveat emptor comes to mind), and if one of them has the resources to throw a brown envelope around they wouldn't be above using it. Here's a thing about former players who people feel should be listened to because, well, because they're former players "who know what they're talking about". If you were one such former player yourself, would you: a) get involved at administrative level to try effect the change you apparently feel so strongly about, or b) go write about it for a newspaper column that you get paid for, and then when that change doesn't happen, write another column sometime saying "I've already called for ......", and then get paid again? If there's an extra few bob being thrown around, it's not the GAA giving it out. The Revenue Commissioners is catching up with county boards all round the country and a number of them have made voluntary disclosures in the last number of years. There's never been more scrutiny of expenses. Any county still fiddling around with expenses are playing a very foolish game. As for expenses itself, if a lad was travelling 200 mile round trips 4 times a week (which a few managers would be at), that amount is going to add up quickly at 70c a mile. They'd be also entitled to expense any meals they have on county business, a phone, accommodation if needed. These amounts add up quickly.
