GB resigned, but clearly pushed if you read his statement. Would be interesting to find out exactly what happened. Its strange enough timing too, unless they have someone lined up already but I would have zero faith in our county board. Its Harsh on GB given the amount on injuries and retirements etc... Bit of a shocker about Bannigan lads. What happened there? Seems a bit strange considering he got you within a whisker of an Ulster title and beating the All Ireland Champions. Have a feeling this could see the end of a lot of senior players on the panel depending who takes over. Wylie, McAnespie, Jack, Ward, Lavelle even maybe. I know a bit about GB and the teams he's managed... is he that big of a loss in all fairness? I'm in two minds if he actually took Monaghan forward during his tenure to be honest. Mc Conville would be a target but can't see him leaving Wicklow with them in Sam Maguire and Mc Geeneys time near up in Armagh. What is everyone's predictions for Hurling this weekend: Latton vs Carrick - I have to say carrick on this one. Latton are missing their two underage prodigies Ruairi Farmer and Jack Lennon who are missing this weekend. Hopefully latton can win this semi final so they two boys will be back for the Junior Final. Blaney vs Iniskeen - Blaney by 10+. Blaney just too good Harps vs Truagh - This on other hand is very tight. Harps be full of confidences they will be inspired by their comeback (Just like Liverpool vs Ac Milan 2005) the last day. Truagh on other hand will be relying on county star Ronan boyle and other important players like Oisin Hagan. I can see Ronan picking up A.Dalton who has been electrical for the harps team. Offaly management has left, suppose they could do with the move to Monaghan. Would this be considered a step up? Would be a handier run for Harte than to Offaly on a Saturday morning. It would sound like some of the players had an input on it, similar to when Counihan was in line to get the job a few years ago until a group said they didn't want him. As someone else said, I think the handling of the Louth match and their performance didn't help as was the question marks over our injury record and how the team was prepared. He has been been an honest, decent man who I feel has left us in a better way than when he took over, with a lot of young players getting their chance. It is a pity we now have to start again with potentially a whole new management team. Also just to say the communication of it has once again been terrible, a crypic statement from Gabriel being published on our own channels is not how this should be handled. Annouce the departure, thank GB and let him have a comment but not the lengthy statement which raises more questions than answers, if he wants his side of the story out then there are plenty of media, We are monaghan pod etc. Finances will probably dictate who we go for next, McCague probably in pole position as he has a strong backroom team already with Scotstown. Minor Championship Fixture, I see the fixture committee have scheduled around of minor championship fixtures for Saturday the 5th September at 12 noon, with adult fixture the same evening and next day and the same again on Saturday 19th .
