They played Dublin in the semi-final and as a Galway person I was delighted to support them - as I have every Connacht team - and was on the old Canal end terrace as the Leitrim team took the field .
Near me was a Leitrim man about 50 with his teenage son and I'll never forget the emotion with which he greeted the team … he could hardly talk and all he could say to the young fellow was 'look at them… look at them… as tears streamed down his face.
So I can understand the emotion that Louth supporters will feel.
Yes, Leitrim got out of their box after 66 years." Yeah I'd always support Leitrim. A great county who is football mad.

Up the Wee County
Through leaner years and hopeful ones,
