Not to be wise after the fact or sounding bitter but Cork did not impress me at all in Ballybofey, and I fancied Mayo considering the matches yous have had in the All-Ireland series in particular the Tyrone match. Ádh mór in the semi

Get through louth first, they're now a top team on the country and not to be taken lightly. Don't think about final!

All 3 Sunday game pundits tipped Louth so you can't say hot favourites.

Andy Moran deserves credit all the same. Look back on this thread around the time he was appointed and during the year.. lots of people had the knives sharpened for him. Many were outside Mayo of course.

No surprise our full forward line looks so fluid when Andy was probably the cleverest inside forward around in his time.

Wouldn't have mayo hot favourites against Louth, both semi finals will be close calls

Louth mayo should be a great occasion. Two teams no-one expected to be here. Louth were outstanding yesterday. Being down to 14 definitely drove them on. One thing I notice they have a great spread of scorers in every game. 10 or 11 yesterday with mcdonell and Byrne getting 3 each of the bench. Mayo don't have that same depth it seems although flynn is usually good for a few scores.
Mayo did have decent bench tbf with conroy, Loftus and Ruane making impacts

All the experts out in force here. The same lads slagging Mayo after they lost to Roscommon and said they were at nothing are now determined to put them as hot favourites for the semi final. The spread with the bookies is one point. Kerry are the best team left and are raging hot favourites. The other 3 are in bonus territory. Mayo a young team building. That's the facts.

The performance in that Connacht semi-final especially 2nd half wasn't good enough from Mayo and plenty of Mayos own supporters said that at the time. You learn lots from defeats and it's what Mayo have done and the changes management made to the starting 15 was a gamble that paid off.

I said before the Meath match it would be sliding door moment for Mayo. Cork in Quarter-final and now Louth in a semi-final you really couldn't ask for a better path way to another All-Ireland final and that's no disrespect to Cork and Louth.

The young Mayo players especially Kobe and Beirne have really stood out and worth noting Paddy Durcan 32, Diarmuid O'Connor 31,Stephen Coen 31, Conor Loftus 31, Ryan O'Donoghue 28,Jordan Flynn 28,Tommy Conroy 27,David McBrien 26 Jack Coyne 26 etc plenty of established and experienced players to play alongside.

Mayo aren't hot favourites for this upcoming semi-final but will be favourites with all Bookies and their punters to beat Louth. Were favourites to beat Meath,Cork and won. Once in the last 4 you aim to reach the final and I expect Mayo to do that now. Once in the final who knows on the day? A sending off or injury to David Clifford and things can swing in Mayos favour very quickly.

Mayo are favourites with the Bookies (only just) but all pundits will tip Louth.

Louth don't have as strong a midfield as Cork, Tyrone, Dublin or Kerry - so Mayos biggest weakness might not be as exposed the next day.

It could go either way.

We had Fermanagh, Westmeath, Kildare and Tipperary as a route to the final in 2016 - then took the "greatest team ever" to a replay and definitely should have won both days. This team isn't as good as that one, but is far more lethal in front of goal.
Either way, it wont be boring

Agree with most of that bar the Mayo being hot favs part. I do think once you get to the last four, your in it to win it and I include Louth in that ambition.

I don't usually go along with this year 1, year 2 etc crap. Sport is not linear and there is zero guarantee as a player or team that you will find yourself in this position again. You absolutely have to go for it now.

A great win the last day, what a class full forward line Mayo have now.
Hard luck to Cork, they will be sick with amount of wides they kicked. many a time we have watched Mayo do what Cork did the last day, have more possession and more chances but not take them. Its great to see a Mayo team being so clinical with there chances.
Beirne unreal, brilliant scores off both feet. Kobe flying around the place and kicking unbelievable scores and O Donoghue so hard to stop jinking around the Cork defence.
The defence stepped up the last day, it needed effort of the whole team and they were so much better as a unit than the Meath game.
Conroy a handful again when he came on, really seems to be back to the player he was few years ago. Carney kicked a vital 2 pointer, will need same or more again the next day. Towey did well as a playmaker, he is a good kickpasse, reminded me of when Dillon made a surprise start against Tyrone years back and they didn't know what to do with him.
If players like Conroy, Ruane, Loftus, McHale, maybe Durcan are there to come on, they dont weaken any team.

They need the confidence from that win to bring them all on another bit cause they will need to improve again to beat that Louth team, they put in some performance yesterday. its a 50/50 game and it will be a great game to watch, both teams look to kick it in quickly and both are well equipped to score 2 pointers.
