Kerry Peaking At Right Time?

(Oldest Posts First)

Form looking at Donegal and Kerry game I said Kerry looked like a team not trying to win. Donegal peaked in league final and kerry put up white flag last day. Shane Ryan, Sean O'Shea, Tom O'Sullivan, Barry Dan O'Sullivan and Dara Moynihan will be back for Quarter Final. Gavin White, Paul Murphy and Paul Geaney got game time today . With Westmeath or Louth to play next day Kerry will be primed for QF like last year? Put €2k on kerry to win Sam Maguire at 9/2 after Donegal game. Are Kerry peaking at the right time like last year?

I always thought that whoever wants to win Sam will have to beat Kerry, even after the Donegal defeat. . Looking at Donegal today ? Possibly Galway might be good enough. It would be a brave man would back against the kingdom at this stage.

Armagh are right up there. Hard to know what to make of Donegal.Lose to Down and Cork but hammer Kerry. Not much of a form line there.

Kerrys seasons are always built a certain way.

They start the season looking for new players - have a few iffy league results.
They finish the league strong - generally wanting a league final because Munster matches are so poor.

They then do their heavy training during Munster championship because they can win at their leisure.
For the past 25 years, winning Munster has resulted in a handy draw to the qfinal or group stages.
This allows them build into the championship slowly.

This year, the new Championship threw Donegal at them early - Donegal, being that bit further along due to having to be at a higher pitch in Ulster than Kerry are in Munster.

Kerry just weren't ready for proper championship team that early in the season.

Now, with a handy run out the last day, combined with a nice home draw, they look primed to step up to where they had always designed themselves to be ready.

The risk for them (and Armagh) is they will really have to perform the next day to win - and what will be in the tank should they have to face Galway or Tyrone in a qfinal.

The other side, Kerry could beat Armagh, then get a Louth team that tend to freeze in Croke Park - that scenario would set them up nicely to retain the All Ireland.

I wouldn't say its set up for Kerry - having to beat Armagh and Galway/Tyrone in successive weeks is a level of intensity they haven't seen in 12 months. You can't just turn that on with lads who haven't been playing for 4/5 months.

The big betting man that you are, I'm sure you're aware that fixture is an impossibility.

Incisive stuff, we will have to have a whip round, on here for your bookie. Hopefully they layed off a few to keep afloat, until then.
