It'd be nice to see a sea of maroon and white descend on Pearse Stadium at some stage to support our hurlers. Nothing but excuses coming from East Galway about why they won't travel in numbers for a sport we're clearly passionate about. Cutting off our nose to spite our face. Our U20s well beaten today. If anything, the gap has grown since Clare gave us a lesson at minor level. Too much talk about revenge after beating a poor Kilkenny team. There was one team who looked like they were on a mission there today and it wasn't our lads unfortunately. Chalk it on the list of All-Ireland final losses. In fairness to Clare, when they get there, they tend to get over the line more often than not. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2839 - 31/05/2026 15:24:44 2676760 Link 0 |

The gulf in hurling between Leinster and Munster is now clearly included at U20 level and Senior. The 20s got a lesson. Hopefully it doesn't stretch to minor level too. Armchairreporter (Galway) - Posts: 147 - 31/05/2026 15:51:28 2676762 Link 0 |

I dont think its a talent deficit tbh. I think its an intensity and match ready thing. The Munster round robin is extremely competitive. The games are really physical and intense. The scoreline may not always reflect that but it is. I saw a tougher more intense and harder working clare team win today.

I agree. I never mentioned talent. Physicality is a big problem here in Galway.

Think they didnt turn up collectively. Their workrate was way lower than it was against us in the LSF. Nerves? Maybe too much pressure being heaped on them? Or praise went to their heads? Picking a lad to start who was only after suffering a grade 2 hamstring tear probably wasnt a great idea either. Surely a weaker player with 2 good legs wouldve been a better call? Murphys pace badly missed also in the fullback line. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 19890 - 31/05/2026 17:54:00 2676802 Link 0 |

Dublin by 6. We dont have the sliotars to match Dublin when the going gets tough. We are a team of car park hurlers

The Galway team were beaten at all positions by Clare and direct hurling won out in Thurles as is always the case. There's a distinct difference in the ability of Munster teams. Short hand passes and over reliance on same caused too many turnovers right from the start. Unfortunately it's the way coaching has developed at underage level over the past ten years or more in Galway and hence the lack of success. Leinster hurling has unfortunately taken the same direction and just look at Kilkenny at present and note that Dublin are possibly the only Leinster team that are somewhat direct. If Galway are not careful next Saturday they will get another lesson on how the game should be played. Here's hoping it doesn't happen South-Galway-Fan (Galway) - Posts: 2 - 31/05/2026 19:21:00 2676833 Link 2 |

If all the injuries all cleared and players available I'd go with the following 15 for Saturday. ColmFlaherty (Galway) - Posts: 73 - 31/05/2026 20:29:34 2676868 Link 0 |

Limerick and Cork play this possession based short game too, that you are disparaging just because Galway don't always have the skillset to play this type of game. Limerick and Cork are also the two best teams in the country currently.

Monaghan surely going to start considering how hes played in the last 3 matches. Fleming has been poor and Rory Burke must be very doubtful

Depends I suppose, Rory's been featured on the teams socials for stuff so it might mean he's returning as in other sports it can reference that. Fleming depends I think if he's dropping back as another midfielder or will it be Monaghan. ColmFlaherty (Galway) - Posts: 73 - 01/06/2026 12:19:18 2676985 Link 0 |

After the optimism of the 2 underage wins over Kilkenny and our 2 senior thrashings of the same county, it seems clearer now that the formline shows those performances to be over rated. Now you can only beat whats put in front of you and our teams did that but clearly Kilkenny are not a good measure at the moment. Our seniors have struggled since and on form will not beat Dublin next Saturday. Hopefully I can be proved wrong. I was at the Leinster u20 final and left it with serous hopes of beating Clare but we were way off it yesterday, on and off the pitch. Starting injured players in finals very rarely works out well. Some players were way off the pace yesterday. Our sideline restarts were awful. The lads had a good year but in a poor competition and then met a serious team yesterday who were at a different level. conordee (Galway) - Posts: 468 - 01/06/2026 13:04:43 2677001 Link 0 |

. Darach Fahy 2. Ronan Glennon 3. Cillian Trayers 4. Darren Morrisey 5. Padraig Mannion 6. Daithi Burke 7. Gavin Lee Jesus that back line puts the fear of god in me. Dublin will run through that all day rea#1487 (Galway) - Posts: 3 - 01/06/2026 13:44:34 2677010 Link 1 |

Who would you replace for who then, it's a bit late to go making bold decisions in the middle of the Championship in a provincial final.

I will be attending the Leinster final. More in hope than expectation.I am shouting for Galway but we are just not physically strong enough in my view to trouble Dublin. Our full back line is weak, as is the full forward line. Look I hope I am proved wrong about all of this. Gaillimh abú galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2761 - 01/06/2026 18:56:12 2677092 Link 0 |
