Dublin aren't the benchmark and Kilkenny aren't the benchmark either, the real benchmarks are in Munster right now and if you're not first, you're last Dublin have as many Leinster titles as us over the same period so their very good record against us hasn't teally counted for much And "Tradition means nothing" is a throwaway statement that goes over the top, yes, tradition is not everything but the best teams at adult level will likely have been the best one at underage level and school level and a lot of that comes from work done at home and away from the training pitch, those clubs and counties with a strong tradition/culture are the most likely to be out there doing that work at home ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1169 - 09/05/2026 20:04:32 2671847 Link 0 |

As most wexford people. Living in the past. We need to open our eyes. Saying it since year. We are miles off the pace. It is not been negative just reality. Don't know where we go from here tbh. As low as bonnar era. When lads take 3 attempts to pick up a ball it's worrying. Deflated. Rock bottom lads Yellowhelmet (Australia) - Posts: 183 - 09/05/2026 20:20:10 2671850 Link 2 |

Didn't know Kilkenny had nothing to play for last week in the minor puts that result into perspective today. Similar to senior we can't win the games that matter, well off the pace and hard to be optimistic WexMurph (Wexford) - Posts: 351 - 09/05/2026 20:38:12 2671853 Link 0 |

He asked whether we had beaten Dublin since 2008 in the Championship and I replied to him that we did, I'm not sure that exactly qualifies as living in the past

Technically speaking, they did have something to play for as they could still have been knocked out Having watched the game, I'm not sure it was immediately obvious that they played as if nothing was on the line That result hardly seemed that out of line at the time when you consider we had lost to Dublin by 3, Dublin had drawn with Galway, and Galway had beaten KK by 2 ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1169 - 09/05/2026 21:06:22 2671860 Link 0 |

Again similar to two weeks ago, that was as good as over after 20 minutes. Having been in Cork and Ennis for both Limerick games so far in championship, our first touch and accuracy, both shooting and passing, leave an awful lot to be desired at Liam McCarthy level. Fair enough, be surprised if Galway don't win it, they were full value for there 18 point win in fairness.

Sad to see such a decline, so far off winning or challenging for a title, potentially the first decade since the 1940s when Wexford haven't won a senior, minor or U20/21 Championship in Leinster. Jedobi (Wexford) - Posts: 281 - 09/05/2026 21:50:52 2671874 Link 1 |

The overall general play and skillset of the squad is closer to Joe McDonagh level than to the top tier of Liam McCarthy which has to be a huge worry for Wexford in the next 2- 3 years.

If Chin, Ryan and to a lesser extent JOC don't commit for next year then Wexford are in real trouble. Joe McDonagh is only a year or 2 away after that unfortunately. Inaroundthehouse (Wicklow) - Posts: 18 - 09/05/2026 22:08:07 2671880 Link 1 |

You do have to consider that a lot of those lads are very young still. They will improve. We've some very good players not playing as well. I believe that will change when a new manager is appointed in a few weeks time.

I dunno, 6 out of the 7 youngest starters on the pitch today were Wexford players, you'd hope they'd improve over the next few years, that others would come back, and that some other younger players would break through, wouldn't really lose out on anyone who is currently in the 25-27yo group mainly because we never had anyone there in the first place Whatever about Wexford's underage results not being where we want them to be but the underage results aren't Joe McDonagh level, you see a team like Kildare making a good fist of it at Senior level and their underage results are a lot worse than ours ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1169 - 09/05/2026 22:35:14 2671887 Link 0 |

Yeah Fanning gets flack for his puckouts but it seems to me he is instructed to only go short to Carley, who either got gobbled up, lost possession from a handpass or in the most extreme example, had his back turned for the first goal. Surely, if going short, it'd be better feeding Ryan or Donohoe or Reck, who'd all have more werewithal to do something with the ball? Or maybe, with our lack of ball-winners longer, do with PSG's keeper did the other night and puck it out for sidelines and press :D beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1551 - 09/05/2026 22:40:59 2671889 Link 0 |

You are correct my friend. Dunno how I missed that, now I remember Rory O Connor scoring a Peach in last minute from at least halfway.

We don't play in Munster. So what Benchmark are you talking about?? We need to beat both KK/Dub to get into a Leinster Final, that should be the aim for next few years. Give plenty of young lads plenty of game time.& good run out through the League. Of course it counted for much,2022,2023,2024 we're all very winnable Leinster finals for us, Dublin have been better than us for years. We don't have much of a Tradition in last couple of decades. I don't know what you are talking about. Spuds&GAA (Wexford) - Posts: 14 - 10/05/2026 02:24:44 2671915 Link 0 |

Lee will be 34 this year, and like our own Danny Sutcliffe (34), he might feel he has given enough, and call it a day on his Inter County career. They actually have very similar medal hauls:- Lee Chin- Leinster Senior Hurling Championship (1): 2019 Walsh Cup (1): 2018 Leinster Under-21 Hurling Championship (1): 2013 All Star (1): 2019 Danny Sutcliffe- Leinster Senior Hurling Championship (1): 2013 National Hurling League Division 1B (1): 2013 Walsh Cup (1): 2013 Leinster Under-21 Hurling Championship (1): 2011 All Star (1): 2013 Leinster Minor Football Championship (1): 2009 Lee would be a massive loss to not only Wexford, but Hurling in general. Top top player. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4940 - 10/05/2026 07:59:05 2671922 Link 0 |
