Replying To Square_B:  "Embarrassing result? Who do ye think ye are Real Madrid? There was a shocking lack of respect all week for Leitrim but we're well used of it in general. The truth is Leitrim always see Sligo as beatable. Anyhow, we will probably get well bet the next day out but that's for another day."
The performance for Sligo was embarrassing. No one said Sligo were a Real Madrid but 15 years of being unbeaten and as a poster said bookies putting 7/1 or 9/1 on it, it would appear that only a very small minority in Leitrim would have backed the win in their mind today…and it very nearly wasn't but wouldn't have been a deserved win if Sligo did poach it. The lobbed goal gave great belief to Leitrim as up to that playing against the wind I thought we were going okay.

Great result today.
I always believe given time that Poacher would turn it around.
Delighted with your fine performance today

Tbf, Sligo were very very fortunate to stay in DIV 3, Leitrim only lost by a single point to Wicklow in the League, Only a lack of maturity and experience prevented Promotion, Man for Man Leitrim Players are more talented, Sligo are still operating at Div 4 levels,

I always said Poacher made the best of the hand he is dealt and no manager would get a better trick out of us, it's finally showing some promise.

Let's see after Galway. If they can back up this game with a decent performance against Galway, then I'll agree with you on Poacher. The biggest problem with this Leitrim team is consistency. We can all see there are good footballers there, but at times it's the very basics that let us down. Take the Longford game, one of the best games I seen Leitrim play in years, and the week after we were shocking against Carlow.

Unreal result today, first win on Irish soil in Connacht championship in like 15 years - I still expect Galway to win comfortably in 2 weeks, but it's up to Leitrim to make them work for it. Abit of consistency is really all you can ask and then head into the tailteann with our heads up

You have to laugh and shows the difference in Money between the counties - other counties go abroad on their training camps to the heat, our lads get a trip to Louth.

Great double for both codes! Why is everyone so surprised that the footballers won? A low level Div 4 side defeating a low level Div 3 side is certainly not unheard of. Onwards and upwards, Leitrim!

I said earlier this week Sligo were a div 4 team lucky to be clinging on in div 3. I was proven right for me up top

I think I was the only one who said stevie and the guys needed time thank you all for remembering me saying that. That was a good win but let's not get carried away please and thanks. It was only Sligo thank you so much. Not exactly world beaters but nice to get the win even though they're extremely poor. Thank you all for agreeing.

Looking ahead I can't see us beating Galway tbh please but you never know. Thank you. It's at home you see please. But if we did I don't think we'd be able for mayo in Connacht final assuming they don't slip up against Roscommon thank you but that is a banana skin for them. Thank you.

Fair play and congratulations to this team and management on a brilliant win today. Many of us including myself have been very critical of some of our displays but in fairness today every Leitrim lad that played stood up and was counted, they were hungry, put there bodies on the line and played some great football, some brilliant performances Ryan played a very good role playmaking today, Tom Prior and Oisin McLoughlin were brilliant as was Keith Keegan while Conor Reynolds and Sean Harkin were rock solid at the back ,Harkin getting up for 2 vital second half points and obviously Barry McNulty was outstanding, we're so lucky to have him. But everyone that started and came on played a vital role , we looked like we were wilting in the last quarter but thankfully got over the line, we may have been lucky late on with Sligo's 2 pointer attempts but we earned them breaks. Obviously a monumental task the next day awaits but let's worry about that in a few days. Finally well done to our small but very vocal band of supporters who really got behind the team and no doubt kept the team going late on when we were under pressure. Absolutely delighted with today, these wins are so rare for us and need to be enjoyed.

Have to hand it to stevie and the lads today they fully deserved the win, a badly needed one in a sense but got over the line none the less. McNulty was immense and per usual, gaffey in goals is a real comfort to have and I was very impressed with Keith keegan in the middle third. Hopefully the lads can push on and give a goof performance against Galway and you never know, might cause another upset

I believe ye can give Galway a hell of a rattle. No need for any fears. Win the mid field battle and dig in. We'll go to Castlebar in hope. We've got some speed. It's security we need. The days are getting longer and the ball is running better. The grass is growing and it's all good for the West. Let the games commence. Love to all.

Ah would you stop. There you've used the word again, embarrassing. Embarrassing suggests a sense of superiority, a sense that would make you 'embarrassed' to loose to Leitrim. Ye lost by 1 point not 20. Despite the losses we've suffered over the years, I never recall any victories from Sligo of any more than 10 points. In fact, in one notable game from the 90's (an All Ireland B final), Sligo were bet out the gate, scored 2 points over the entire game. The reality is we're closer than you think, so you can take your embarrassment with you somewhere else.

Fantastic win yesterday… fully deserved great team performance Barry McNulty with an exceptional individual performance we're lucky to have him. Bring on Galway in carrick hopefully we can catch them on an off day. sligo should have beaten them 2 years ago at home.

Galway will win most likely, you'd hope for an awful day weather wise like the Mayo game last year to make it more interesting. A loss by 5 or 6 pts would be very creditable and no shame.

These training camps are amusing, is training in the heat in the Algarve more beneficial to teams slogging in Irish spring weather than going to the wee county to do the same thing.

They played very well against a strong enough Galway in FBD, and of course their best effort under Poacher came V Mayo last year. Listening to Ocean FN commentary they seemed to run out of juice late on yesterday, Cannot see any chance of what would be the biggest upset since Longford took down Mayo in 2010...
