Defeat to Roscommon minors tonight by 1-13 to 0-02.

Sligo and Roscommon are both ahead of us in population I know, but comparable to us in numbers of clubs.

We are still the only county without a title in any level of Connacht club championship.

We are the only county without a win at all in either under 20 or minor championship.

I've said it before - our guys look good until the play outside our county bounds. Then they get really exposed to their level.

I don't know what the other counties are doing - but it's different to what we are doing. Not an option anymore - it is a fact

Apologies to the Leitrim folks for getting their hopes up. Roscommon much changed but still won by 14 points.

Yes this was the Roscommon minor B team. Ross management made 14 changes to their team that beat Mayo in their last game.

They still beat us 1-13 to 0-02.

Sligo beat mayo minors tonight

What is going on with us is beyond ridiculous at this stage. I actually couldn't tell you when we last won a championship game at any age level and mind you there isn't that many to have to remember

Very disappointed with the minors tonight 2 points over 60 minutes of football is brutal. A 13 point loss against a second string Roscommon is poor. Basic skills aren't there soloing kicking even hand passing at times too much side to side going nowhere no idea on how to attack . Didn't even try to work 2 pointers when we had the breeze. Michael o Grady will be the only one from that squad on the 20s next year hes shown up well in all the games thus far.

Second string Ros team makes that scoreline hurt real bad. We may join with Longford like the Masters.

What do you want, an organisation run by a crowd of incompetents like the FAI who have absolutely SFA playing infrastructure for the people who enjoy & play the sport? You can give out about the GAA for lots of things but they run a tight ship & they have to but people like you can't be talked to. An amateur organisation that owns 4 stadia that can hold 40k+ people and many more that can hold around 25k. No other sporting organisation in Ireland comes even close."
Not uneducated, simple facts lad

Munster hurling championship price hikes in 2024 and 2025 5 euro each time, why because the gaa know they are sell outs.

All Ireland quarter finals and semi finals, tickets increased in 2025 as well.

As a donegal exile living for the last 30 plus years in Leitrim, i can tell you for 2 adults last year following donegal almost 1000 euro on tickets alone. How about a family of 4? For context You can get a Bayern Munich season ticket for less than 150 euro.

Corporate GAA forget than many of their patrons are supporting weekly lotto, 50/50 draws etc as well.

An amateur organisation??? Run by paid officials who are more interested in lucrative sponsorship deals and filling croke park at every opportunity, regardless of whether it is gaelic games , concerts, American football, or now by the looms of things even a champions league final.

Nothing is going to change because there's no appetite for change. We claim to be footballing mad but all the evidence suggests otherwise. Wanting to win is one of the reasons to play sport. We'll continue to exist in our little bubble of mediocrity and convince ourselves that all is well until we get out of our county and then we're exposed again and again. Next year, as every other year, we'll be told we've a good minor or u20s team.
Regarding our population, Sligo is a good example where that argument doesn't hold water. Sligo Town is a soccer town. Rugby is also very strong. Take the town out if it and we're close to it in terms of population. The difference is that they have invested time and effort into their coaching at underage. The results in recent years speak for themselves. They've used their resources well. Far from perfect but a lot better than us.
I've said it before, it's not the players fault. It's the system they've been brought up in. Make any suggestions here and you're shot down. Hence my acceptance that we're not serious about our football. It's a mindset that's taken hold over the past 20 years. The relative success of our ladies teams in the same period proves this. No excuses, they just get on with it.
Anyway, best of luck to our senior men's team. I hope I'm proven wrong.

It absolutely is uneducated nonsense. The best thing you could do is stay at home or support Bayern Munich.

Well said. The situation in Leitrim at underage could be really well enhanced with more quality coaching. Is young Jack Casey still coaching up there? Good school team on Manor Hamilton last year that won a C All Ireland. I really believe with a big effort Leitrim could kick on and join the top teams on underage in Connacht like Roscommon, Sligo and Mayo. Love to all.

Hard luck to our minor team last night please! We did not perform but it happens every team now and again thank you. We can bounce back like a dog on a trampoline. Thank you all for agreeing.
