I agree 100% and that didn't happen in 2014.

Anyone else hearing the following happening in Croke Park in Sept:- Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4859 - 03/04/2026 19:22:45 2664622 Link 1 |

That's pretty big. I think croke park will try and cover the years the NFL do not play in Dublin with other events like this and soccer friendlies. After the NFL game SA v NZ wanted to play in croke park but GAA weren't to impressed with their attitude so the game is in Baltimore America in summer instead. The NFL have really had a big impact as it was a great event with the second highest viewing figures of any overseas NFL game. Kew (Galway) - Posts: 299 - 03/04/2026 23:47:45 2664647 Link 0 |

I agree 100% We would have a lot of casual followers of hurling in Wexford who love a day out in Croke Park. They might not be the life blood of the gaa but they contributed to our success historically and they do not go to thurles or puc. We need Croke park. Can you elaborate on not being impressed by their attitude?

The truth doesn't change based on what year it is.

It seems they expected the GAA to be grateful to be chosen a very entitled attitude. No relationship built prior with the GAA like the NFL or others did who have asked. The NZ media reports is what I'm going off they seemed confused they weren't treated as special by the GAA. Kew (Galway) - Posts: 299 - 04/04/2026 14:07:46 2664703 Link 2 |

Katie would never sell out Croke Park on her own so it's the best she could hope for if it happens. Also given that Eddie Hearn was crying to the media about Croke Park not bending the knee to him over the cost, it's the only way she'll get her day out if her promoter isn't willing to take the risk.

The passing of the years should lead to a dose of cop on though.

I hope she does get her day out, but Eddie Hearn has learned very quickly that he won't browbeat the GAA. He'll have to pay up the going rate like everyone else.

Yes, exactly. Sure to be a Sell Out now.... With her opponent tbc, it matters little. It will be a fitting and fully deserved send off for her... And as someone already posted, with no NFL this year, it fits into the Croke Park calendar perfectly. Fionn (Dublin) - Posts: 4859 - 04/04/2026 17:12:47 2664732 Link 0 |

I have no interest in women's boxing but I would definitely buy a ticket. I hope it happens.

Wrong on all accounts. The GAA had near 30% more Gaelic fans through the gates in 2025. Over 650,000 fans compared to just over 500,000 in 2024. And that is not counting replays which they done away with to shorten the championships. GAA can stand on its own two feet without foreign sports. Sure concerts can create revenue but not in the Summer months when it should be GAA season.

Was in croke park last Saturday for the longford game. Was shocked at the state of the place. Disappointed to see it getting so run down Thejampot (Leitrim) - Posts: 402 - 04/04/2026 20:34:50 2664788 Link 2 |
