No sign of u20s team for tomorrow's game against Roscommon. It's like they don't want anyone to go to these matches when they put it on at 5 clock on a Wednesday and then don't even have a team named night before the game . Surely there's a pitch in the county with lights that can hold these matches at 7 clock . Gaagael15 (Galway) - Posts: 35 - 17/03/2026 23:16:44 2661636 Link 2 |

Very true I guess. Probably needs to add some forwards to the panel at the same time though given that Comer is unlikely to feature this year, Thompson is gone until the All Ireland series & Walsh and McDaid seem to be injured on a consistent basis. We could be down similar numbers for a championship game like. galwayman2 (Galway) - Posts: 1370 - 18/03/2026 09:55:11 2661648 Link 0 |

Is Brian Carroll feom Oranmore the sub goalie on u20 team tonight a brother of Conor Carroll? fairplay4ever (Galway) - Posts: 459 - 18/03/2026 11:15:01 2661665 Link 0 |

I think their preference is to keep more middle 8 players in reserve. Likes of Conroy, Barrett, Egan, Roche, McGlinchey, Molloy, O Laoi, 2 O Neills, are there but not on every 26 & in case of inside forward injury rotate Tierney/Darcy/S McGrath in there and bring in one of the "midfielders" in half forward line. Realistically we have 3 games until the all Ireland series. Demands on middle 8 players way higher in new rules so makes sense to load the bench with them and only have 1 or 2 spare corner backs/corner forwards. systematic (Galway) - Posts: 253 - 18/03/2026 12:17:20 2661668 Link 0 |

Galway U20s the more composed and accurate team in Tuam tonight. The two goals 2 minutes 1st half and 3rd goal in the 2nd half when just 3 points ahead was obviously key. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 715 - 18/03/2026 22:21:24 2661749 Link 0 |

That was a good win but really let them back into it in the second half. Look to be well coached, I thought our press and tackling was outstanding. Vinnie Gill, Ross Coen, Mulhern and Mulryan the pick for me. McGlinchey had a couple of good moments too including a cracking goal smallfrank (Galway) - Posts: 583 - 19/03/2026 08:21:39 2661762 Link 0 |

Yes thats correct. And Claregalway have another goalie involved in an intercounty set up. Never seen the likes, some competition!

Yes brothers. Mark Carroll our 2nd choice keeper last night his cousin and Aaron Brady senior keeper is another cousin. Former county chairman Brian Carroll is their Uncle On the match the lads involved with your senior set up this year really stood out last night. While we have none and that showed. You look a lot better coached under Johnson than you were under Savage in recent years. The_analyser (Roscommon) - Posts: 4299 - 19/03/2026 11:37:05 2661801 Link 0 |

Yeah Mulhern and Mulryan stood out for me. McGlinchey was in and out of it though looked to be carrying a knock. Very patchy performance though. Neither team looked that good to be honest. galwayman2 (Galway) - Posts: 1370 - 19/03/2026 12:04:43 2661808 Link 0 |

Not the most talented Galway U20 side you'll see. Which is probably not surprising as we haven't had great minor teams recently. They are very well coached though. I still think a Connacht title would be a minor surprise but they are capable of it if a few things go their way. Marooned (Galway) - Posts: 2507 - 19/03/2026 12:47:28 2661819 Link 0 |

More a case of a strong group coming through at the same time, 2009 was a good year in MB. From what I've heard, they're a decent bunch off the field too, which always helps. The midfielder, Oisín Naughton, looks a serious talent loads of energy and real quality throughout this evening. That said, even with six players involved, MB won't have it all their own way in the U17 championship. Claregalway and Oranmor will be right there challenging, and Dunmore and Caherlistrane shouldn't be ruled out either. On another note, the U16 trials in Bekan tomorrow at 9am are a tough ask. Anyone travelling from Clifden or the islands is at a clear disadvantage it's a big commitment, and the Academy is expecting a lot from parents. Was impressed by Mikey Mitchell, looks like a silky player with an excellent football brain. Be interesting to see how this team do in a vastly different test away to Roscommon next week.

Big game 2 morrow Dublin team looks fairly strong in forward division I'd expect dubs to win by 5-6 and hopefully Kerry can draw or win v Armagh ,, Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 1141 - 21/03/2026 14:49:15 2662073 Link 0 |

Brilliant to see John daly back in the match day squad. Best number 6 and passer of the ball in the country. I expect the inside forwards to have a field day if he gets playing. Galwayman67420 (Galway) - Posts: 3 - 21/03/2026 17:38:16 2662095 Link 2 |

Always the way with the county, arrangements are always made to suit the north board. No consideration for the city/west at all. They'll put a toll on the quincentennial bridge yet.
