As a neutral it was a great watch, fair play to both teams in tricky conditions. Thought maybe the galway centre forward may have went for goal instead of the safety option but thats nitpicking. A good game southmeathgael (Meath) - Posts: 1056 - 01/03/2026 18:10:10 2659279 Link 1 |

6 points up and man up for the last 25 minutes. You really have to see the game out from there. They would have as well if they had taken any of the 3 good goal chances they had in the second half. They completely butchered the first two and Mulhern fisted a point over for the last one. Which left Donegal still in it needing only a 2 pointer which they got. Mulhern had a good goal chance the first half as well. Marooned (Galway) - Posts: 2502 - 01/03/2026 18:19:18 2659284 Link 0 |

In fairness you can't blame Mulhern for fisting over the bar at that stage. The keeper did well to create a very tight angle and there was also a Donegal defender on hand it the event of a parry. Also, I'm sure after last weekend's finish against Ros when a similar chance presented and it didn't work out well, it may have been on his mind.

Yes his goal chance was the most forgivable to be fair to him. The previous two should have been goals though. They had 2 v 1 on the keeper and messed it up twice.

Wasn't Dan Flah involved in one of the previous two? If so, I'd be more surprised at this stage to see Flah bagging one 'Micheal Meehan style', than I'd be to see him miss 'sitters'. I think there's a reason that Flah was christened a back in Salthill, and you see it in those one on one finishing situations all the time.

I think Fionn McDonagh put in a bad hand pass behind his man for the second goal chance. Would have to watch it again though.

Galway did well to get the draw. Away from home. How many one point defeats have we suffered over the years. I would like to see long range frees takenon the ground, not in the hand. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2729 - 01/03/2026 20:23:13 2659333 Link 0 |

Very happy with Galway at moment. Think we are rocking along very nicely. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1933 - 01/03/2026 20:35:01 2659338 Link 0 |

Heading up the road this morning I'd have been happy leaving with a point but can only feel disappointed not getting two given how the match unfolded. On the plus side Oisin Mac Donnacha stood out up front, Maher was everywhere and Hernon offered a lot coming from deep. The substitutions seemed to be a bit late coming in, the guys taken off looked well spent and Donegal had already swung momentum back by the time our fresh legs were on. A point earned away to table toppers Donegal but can't help feeling it's the 2 points Galway should have earned. Bench impact of Mogan, Michael Murphy and Finnbarr Roarty proved a difference though. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 701 - 01/03/2026 20:52:20 2659346 Link 0 |

Mcdonagh was blatantly pushed in the back. Was a stonewall free, if not borderline penalty. But Galway got nothing from it.

A very blatant free but once again O'Flaherty lacked composure, just needs to handpass that ball back inside him for an easy goal. Mulhern has quickly learned, cut out the mistakes yesterday and played well and contributed on the scoreboard. Looked like the wind picked up in the 2nd half? A very poor second half once the sending off occurred, lifted Donegal and Galway went into their shell. Still plenty of positives and lots to be optimistic about. Feels like a point lost with Dongal losing Langan for 10 and then McMenamin being sent off for majority of 2nd half but would have taken it before throw in. Plenty of postives. Beat Monaghan and we are safe befoe the Dubs come to town. I dont know how we let Gleeson take 45s I know he scored against mayo a couple of years back but that was the rarity never even close I dont trust him with kickouts never mind 45s LOL. What a trojan Maher is an absolute work horse and has come back from his injury with no ill affects. I was also very impressed with Hernon. Interesting from PJ to say again he is only worried about the players he has and not the the ones who are injured and you cant blame him is obv fed up of comer & Walsh injuries and the questions around same. A win v monaghan secures us only as long as armagh lose to dublin . If armagh beat dublin and kerry and we beat monaghan and lose to dublin then will likely be relegated on score difference as long as roscommon get a point from last 2. If in addition to the results above if ros fail to beat donegal or mayo then it would be a 4 way tie on 6 points, with roscommon the most likely loser on score difference ( but that depends on the margins of victory/ defeat). Ironically if the dubs beat armagh , not only does a result v monaghan guarantee survival, but even a defeat to monaghan for us could still leave us okay on 4 points if donegal were to beat monaghan in round 7. So ironically a dublin result against armagh is more important ( in terms of liklihood of survival) than our own result v monaghan.

PJ has said he only worries about the players available since he took the job. Nothing new here and no reflection on anyone of the injured players. Does anyone have any details on the injuries? O'Laoi, Mcdaid, Comer, Walsh, O'Neill anyone else? Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1933 - 02/03/2026 12:43:54 2659473 Link 0 |

Based on current score difference, if Armagh beat Dublin, Dublin will probably end up with a worse score difference than us. Our current -3 score difference is a worry right now but likely won't be after the Monaghan game. As you say it's probably Roscommon in most trouble with a 4 way tie. I don't think it's likely that Armagh beat kerry as Kerry will want to be in league final and need those last 2 points to guarantee. systematic (Galway) - Posts: 251 - 02/03/2026 13:24:33 2659488 Link 0 |
