As a neutral it was a great watch, fair play to both teams in tricky conditions. Thought maybe the galway centre forward may have went for goal instead of the safety option but thats nitpicking. A good game southmeathgael (Meath) - Posts: 1056 - 01/03/2026 18:10:10 2659279 Link 1 |

6 points up and man up for the last 25 minutes. You really have to see the game out from there. They would have as well if they had taken any of the 3 good goal chances they had in the second half. They completely butchered the first two and Mulhern fisted a point over for the last one. Which left Donegal still in it needing only a 2 pointer which they got. Mulhern had a good goal chance the first half as well. Marooned (Galway) - Posts: 2502 - 01/03/2026 18:19:18 2659284 Link 0 |

In fairness you can't blame Mulhern for fisting over the bar at that stage. The keeper did well to create a very tight angle and there was also a Donegal defender on hand it the event of a parry. Also, I'm sure after last weekend's finish against Ros when a similar chance presented and it didn't work out well, it may have been on his mind.

Yes his goal chance was the most forgivable to be fair to him. The previous two should have been goals though. They had 2 v 1 on the keeper and messed it up twice.

Wasn't Dan Flah involved in one of the previous two? If so, I'd be more surprised at this stage to see Flah bagging one 'Micheal Meehan style', than I'd be to see him miss 'sitters'. I think there's a reason that Flah was christened a back in Salthill, and you see it in those one on one finishing situations all the time.

I think Fionn McDonagh put in a bad hand pass behind his man for the second goal chance. Would have to watch it again though.

Galway did well to get the draw. Away from home. How many one point defeats have we suffered over the years. I would like to see long range frees takenon the ground, not in the hand. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2728 - 01/03/2026 20:23:13 2659333 Link 0 |

Very happy with Galway at moment. Think we are rocking along very nicely. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1932 - 01/03/2026 20:35:01 2659338 Link 0 |

Heading up the road this morning I'd have been happy leaving with a point but can only feel disappointed not getting two given how the match unfolded. On the plus side Oisin Mac Donnacha stood out up front, Maher was everywhere and Hernon offered a lot coming from deep. The substitutions seemed to be a bit late coming in, the guys taken off looked well spent and Donegal had already swung momentum back by the time our fresh legs were on. A point earned away to table toppers Donegal but can't help feeling it's the 2 points Galway should have earned. Bench impact of Mogan, Michael Murphy and Finnbarr Roarty proved a difference though. Drax_the_destroyer (UK) - Posts: 698 - 01/03/2026 20:52:20 2659346 Link 0 |
