Meath are definitely hot favourites for Leinster and rightly so. Kildare are going in the right direction; but are ultimately bottlers so I can't see them doing anything in Leinster. Bit surprised at that myself tbh . It's only someones opinion anyways . Rossies are not to be sniffed at though they have great forwards. Galway I feel have a bit of pressure on them this year. That's one way to look at it. Another way is. Against Donegal who rested players in round 7 of the league Mayo with a few minutes to go were on the verge of relegation, penalty save was a turning point. League final they weren't as expected competitive against your own Kerry. Narrowly beaten by Galway was improvement in the Connnacht final from the less than convincing wins against Leitrim and Sligo coming into that final. Losing to Cavan at home proved very costly and group stage exit in the championship. 2024 Mayo made a round 12 exit at home to Derry and the two years before were well beaten in the All-Ireland Quarter-finals. We were way off last year . But I put that down to trouble in the camp. And that is clear as day now in the turnaround in the mood under Andy . Every team goes through a period of transition which we have been the last few years . Same as Dublin are now . You don't need to list our past failings to remind of us that. It usually goes by teams showing the best form in a particular week. Overall though it's flawed and things change so much from week to week never mind from league to championship. Mayo aren't a top 3 side yet….that does not interest me in the slightest. @S1234 (Mayo) two different replies to me on the same post. You forgot to sign out of one of usernames for the 2nd one didn't you? I have no county and can deliver full neutral viewpoint. As for hype Mayo are currently 3rd in the betting which means the punters and bookies expect Mayo to reach All-Ireland semi-final at least. Transition was done under James Horan on his 2nd term and reached two All-Ireland finals under that term. As I said jury is out on Andy Moran to see can such expectations can be reached. Derry were third behind Armagh and Galway. Derry beating Mayo on penalties is a footballing result. Well kind of. Penalities being more another sporting influence. 2025 Every county suffered a tough loss. Mayo's was against Cavan. They bounced back against Tyrone and were nudged out by Donegal. Tyrone gave Kerry the tougher game in Croke Park last year. Donegal made the final. Mayo can't be allowed that far away as some are saying. Exiting in the last 12 and old group stage could come down to luck of the draw. With the new format - there could be heavyweight collisions in Round 2B or Round 3. A "blunt instrument" is what Jarlath Burns is calling it. Armagh, Tyrone and Donegal are on one side of the Ulster draw.
