I am not sure regardless of what anyone says you will change your mind. A couple of points, PIMCO is a US company and the US would never allow them to blackist the county. Once bought its pointless what the do with the bonds as the complaint was they bought them in the first place. And yes what I am trying to explain is a business relationship that most people would never see, thats not condensing but just the reality of the different environments people live in. The issue itself or him not being interviewed with ad? Its obvious that someone outside the panel is pushing this. It is untenable situation regardless of issue. There's this infantile notion that if you follow a sports team they have an obligation to agree with you on foreign and domestic policy! Its something that has dragged down certain soccer clubs. The political line enforced by fans or club directors clearly interferes with how the team functions as a team. I dont think any Dublin GAA person wants that or to turn into a flagship for anyone. I supposed anyone with insurance policies with Aviva, AXA, Zurich, RSA should cancel their policies. Cancel any travel plans that might mean flying on a Boeing aircraft. If they're considering buying a new house off the plans they should avoid sites using Caterpillar equipment. Maybe not buy shares for armament manufacturers. The IDF is mandatory in Israel. If a few Israeli soldiers came into your shop in Tel Aviv, buying sandwiches, kosher of course, are you implicated in a genocide?

Hey listen if someone made an argument to change my mind about the GAA I would. I don't really understand what you mean by the US would never allow who blacklist who? This sentence doesn't make sense to me. And it's not about changing minds. I'm giving an opinion that is think is valid. One thing I take umbridge with is a narrative that is put forth by you and by GAA hierarchy, that we wouldn't understand how complex this is or that it's somehow some simplified Facebook populist commentary that has formed our opinion. My mind would be changed if there was a conciliatory tone from these organisations for having bought those bonds, maybe a 'with hindsight we should not have done that', or 'lessons have been learned' style statement. As yet I have not come across any statement with that tone. It's seems it's business as usual. Can I ask you do you have a difficulty with the company having these bonds? Are you ok that they don't seem to have said that this wasn't a good idea in light of what was said in the UN report? Are you ok with the main sponsor of the GAA and organisation of which I am a member and have given my time as a volunteer has a connection to this global business? Genuinely it takes a lot for me not to go a support my county in the league. And probably the championship as they also sponsor that competition. I would love my mind to be changed actually. Nothing you have said or anyone has said has managed to change it even slightly. Yeah I do try my best to stay away from organisations that do have those kind of links, but like you say, it's practically impossible. Especially when no laws seem to have been broken. But it is another thing to be sponsored by someone whose global arm has been specifically mentioned in this way in a UN report. Like we can choose who sponsors us. Whatever about being their customer. So no I disagree with the premise of your argument. What you describe is not the same. Plus if the GAA pulled sponsorship is sends a message about integrity and values. Values I thought the GAA had. But unfortunately I seemed to have been mistaken. Remember, this is about GENOCIDE. Think about that. I'm not saying that Allianz Ireland had any part to play in it, but they do have connections to a global arm that was mentioned in a report about the funding of that genocide. UEFA and other soccer clubs weren't long dropping Russian sponsors in 2022. Please explain to me if this situation is different? Ah its just it was reported that Ger Brennan was refusing to be interviewed in front of an allianz banner but then Ger comes out and says he does nt know where the story came from and he is in the dark. Neither manager was interviewed in front of any adverts but was nt the managers decisions seemingly. The whole saga is becoming comical.

Very well put Supermon, there is a world of difference between being a purchaser of a product and a sponsorship deal. Sponsorship involves and certainly broadcasts very publicly a mutual respect for each others values and ethics.

Allianz sponsors sport across Europe and further afield and here we are getting our knickers in a twist to appease a few wokies who probably already purchase goods already (knowing or unknowingly) in entities associated with Israel. Your pension is likely invested in entities that trade with Israel, are people going to get all pious about that too? Allianz have the naming rights to Twickenham & the Munich Football Arena and I do not hear any calls on the English RFU or German FA to end any deals. Choosing to boycott Allianz is not going to make one blind bit of difference to the long suffering Palestinian people.
