Replying To Tacaí Liatroma:  "Very surprised that the Glencar/Manorhamilton motion to correct the spelling of Páirc Séan Mac Diarmada to the grammatically correct version of Páirc Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada was defeated. I'd wonder what was said against it. If people still want to call it Pairc Sean amongst themselves then that's grand, but I wouldn't have imagined any opposition to a motion about Irish grammar."
Tá ceart acú - tá na rudaí seo tábhachtach.
I wouldn't have copped it growing up but it's a complete mish mash of Irish and béarlachas.
The new stand looks right as well as the centre of excellence (open to correction).

And when you have a Gaelscoil right beside it, as well as those in the one I gCluainín Uí Ruairc, the students from these schools must be scratching their heads going into ehh Heartland credit union park. Páirc Seán.
It's a shame but it's probably similar reasons to the people of Dingle not wanting to be changed back to An Daingean.

But if they can get it right in Seán Mac Dermott swimming pool in Dublin , than surely it should be right in Leitrim's own HQ.

Hopefully it will come up for discussion again.

I think the students will probably spend less than 30 seconds scratching their head about it and carry on into school thinking absolutely no more about it. This smacks of a motion for having a motions sake. Bigger fish to fry as they say.

Replying To foreveryoung:  "Gives the chance to another panel member to stand up and fight for a place on the first 15. That's what you have panels and extended panels for. No team should ever be dependent upon one player; a suspension, injury, or a desire not to be involved for whatever reason puts the spanner in such dependence.

Having said all that, he is a fine player."
Every team has that one player that if they are missing the team are significantly weaker. Kerry are not the same team without David Clifford. Dublin are not the same team without Con. Donegal weren't the same team without Michael Murphy when he was in his prime. Barry McNulty is that one player that we cant replace. He is that important for us.
That is why he must not be rushed back.

Replying To southleitrim_mafia:  "It was really a bit of a nothing motion. He signed the Proclamation as Seán Mac Diarmada, and while Sheáin Mhic Dhiarmada might be grammatically correct in Irish, it wasn't the name he actually used himself. For that reason, I think the motion was deservedly defeated.

Although, I don't imagine that's why it was defeated. It was probably more about the cost of rebranding the signage at Páirc Seán, and the fact that we're already tied into a naming rights deal with the credit union. The current title is Heartland Credit Union Páirc Seán MacDiarmada, changing things now would only open up a whole set of other complications."
Sean Mac Diarmada would be the correct signature. The spelling changes when you put a word before it e.g. Páirc in this case. A cat is cat. My cat becomes Mo chat. It's an Initial mutation which is a feature of Irish.

Sloppiness wins the day again. Groundhog day in Leitrim GAA.

No point in saying otherwise but after seeing the team that is named its hard to see anything other then a Wicklow win.

Barry McNulty, Cillian McGloin, Conor Reynolds, Paul Keaney, Paul Honeyman, Killian Gaffey, David Feeney, Colm McLoughlin, Darren Cox all out injured for the Wicklow game before we even consider who's not on the panel.

Not only would most of them 9 players start against Wicklow if they were fot it severely weakens our sub bench.

We're severely lacking power and height in the middle third. Winning primary possession is going to be diffucult.

Ryan O'Rourke, Tom Prior and Jack Kelly will cause them problems but getting the ball upto them is going to be the issue.
Ben Guckian will play as a third midfielder I'd guess we will need him to kick a lot of two pointers to stay in contention.

Best of luck the two debutants in Fergal McLoughlin and Jack Kelly.
Interesting to see Gavin Reynolds from St Marys on the bench. Is he a new addition to the panel? The new rules should suit him.

Hopefully Poacher will update us supporters on how far some of our injuries are away from playing.
