I think Loughrea will sneak this one, better spread of scoring forwards from what I've seen. Admittedly only 1 slaughneil game! should be a good one imo. Not much between the 4 left but I think Loughrea have the most firepower up front

Athenry pull it out of the bag yesterday, well done to them, yet another Cork team filled the togs when they saw the whites of the finishing line's eyes in Croke Park, snatching a draw from the jaws of victory

Great job by Athenry. Many teams would have given up. Hopefully they win the replay in January.

To be honest, I don't think it was a case of Finbarr's panicking. I thought Athenry were the better team for the last 20 minutes at least. They had far more of the play and more shots, but some poor decision making had allowed Finbarr's to widen the gap.
Fair play to Athenry for keeping the head at the end and working the last shot. There was blatant foul just seconds before that which the ref hadn't given. I'd say there would have been ructions if Athenry hadn't levelled it.

I thought Maher went to ground looking for that free, and probably expecting it too in the circumstances, and the referee was correct not to award it. Fantastic player Maher, at 45 years of age. An all time great was how Ursula Jacob described her before the game. Certainly herself and Higgins are the two best hurlers on that Athenry side by some distance.

It looked to me like she was sandwiched, which would always be a free, but I'd have to look back at it.
Agreed completely on the two being the main driving forces. They were outstanding and relentless.
