Yes there's full time staff working hospitality in croker year round. There's meetings events and functions in croker daily. Across premium and hospitality areas with waiters, bar staff, chefs working every day there. Same in aviva. You sound a right fun individual. Why leave alcohol to premium only? That doesnt make sense. And better catering facilities how exactly KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3865 - 21/11/2025 06:31:02 2645502 Link 0 |

When you say "local GAA people" who are you referring to? Why is it a ridiculous comment about loss of jobs. There's thousands of staff working match days in the stadium. Many in the bars. Close the bars and they lose their jobs. Why is kids losing their jobs a good thing. Weird to go all stereotyping and classiest on this KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3865 - 21/11/2025 06:34:43 2645503 Link 0 |

Rugbt isn't a tiny minority sport though. What else is on right now that should be getting more coverage than rugby?

Why did you go? Plenty of toing and froing of GAA spectators to seats during games in Croke Park to the toilets, getting food, beer etc. Not unique to rugby matches. In hindsight €160 wasn't a bad price for a vantage point that let you to watch the match and observe the activities of about 25,000 people.

Of course he will, so will I Barney ;-) although Walsh Cup doesn't have any bearing on seedings for Championship!

How many people play it nationally? The media would have you believe everyone. How many of the national team went to the same school? The reality is it's smaller than hurling and microscopic compared to football or soccer. That's not even considering golf, boxing, equestrian or even athletics. My point was world cup qualifiers are a big story and it was a footnote before a rugby friendly. Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 4039 - 21/11/2025 12:20:01 2645533 Link 2 |

10 or 15 years ago a gushing RTÈ reporter was interviewing the IRFU CEO (Philip Browne?) . Asked him was he delighted with the growth of Rugby. His response was "we are a minority sport with around 250 clubs in total" Seanfan (Roscommon) - Posts: 233 - 21/11/2025 13:14:39 2645537 Link 1 |

The difference between soccer and rugby is that when the international soccer team are going well or in a major tournament it lifts the whole country, the dogs on the streets are talking about it. The rugby certainly doesnt have that effect.
