Take a day off from the McGahern character schtick. You're straight out of central casting. Next you'll be telling us that you cycle your high nelly to all the matches!

Replying To bláthach:  "It's not one bit skilful. Lads barging into each other and then fall into a heap on the ground. They then throw it back to some lad who will either repeat the thing and barge into another lad or he will kick it over the sideline or drive it up in the air and hope the other buck doesn't catch it. If they do kick it over the sideline they throw it in and a few lads have to lift up another buck to catch it. If that passes as skilful I give up."
Oh so bitter. Teying to be edgy and cool.
Not one bit skillful is just plain wrong and shows you up as bitter misinformed and sad

Replying To boxtyburgerbuns:  "Over a million went to league of Ireland games last year. How many went to rugby games involving Irish provinces only? The South African teams skew the urc competition attendances and I'd bet the French teams skew the european rugby ones. There was nearly as many people at the league of Ireland opening game as Leinster's semi final they filled the togs in."
How many League of Ireland games were played compared to the games played by the 4 provincial teams?

You're the one that brought up the schtick my good man trying to say there's no tv's or radios in my area, compared to whatever utopian part of Leitrim you are in, so why wouldn't I answer an idiotic comment like yours with the same schtick?

"During the 2023 men's Rugby World Cup, the average ball-in-play time per game was 34 minutes and 18 seconds"

From the website statista.

At least 46 mins out of play, the facts speak for themselves

The biggest stadium in soccer is Shamrock Rovers one with a capacity of what, 10k maybe? Comparable to Connacht's rugby ground

All the rest are half that size in the LOI

You can see that there was nearly 20,000 empty seats for a european semi final in Dublin last weekend, that is pathetic.

The League of Ireland has been neglected for years. Good to see it's attendances are growing. They should explore the popularity here of Premier League and Champions League teams. Much more soccer players with clubs round the country. And a fair few play playing both and GAA. Thankfully no intercounty Kiwi imports. But plenty of scope for every sport to increase numbers.

No, I was referring specifically to you and the persona you like to portray. I thought you'd figure that bit out.
Anyway, make sure you reply using the correct username!!! It's hard to keep up with you and bláthach.

There is too much stoppages and pontificating in rugby it is why I prefer league particularly NRL much more action and non stop with fewer stoppages

I am referring to the fully professional teams - three in south, one in north.

The League of Ireland has larger crowds. Despite capacity restraints.

Yes, the fact League of Ireland teams play so many games makes their crowds even more impressive. Shamrock Rovers had nearly 60 games last season. Following them is a major financial commitment.

Replying To GreenandRed:  "League of Ireland has less crowds than professional interprovincial teams rugby. Probably horse racing is our most popularly attended sport?"
a) That's not true. Add up the combined average home gates of Leinster LOI teams and compare to Leinster rugby. the LOI attendances are much larger, despite having far more games to play. This is despite capacity limits. Many games sell out well in advance.

b) Horse Racing figures are pumped up. They include people working on the day in the attendances: stable staff, vendors,, caterers, Tote workers etc.

Not portraying any persona lad, and I don't have any other account. Not sure why you're so defensive about rugby
