Replying To Fighting-Cocks69:  "Do you reckon many from the CBS team will break into the starting 15?"
I think there is great talent on the team like Buckley in goals and masterson + sheerin in the back line could be a serious addition. I've been at many shamrocks and cbs games and they go unnoticed in conversations about talent. Anyone know if they're on the panel?

Think most of those lads were minors last year so unlikely to make county under 20s at 18, in fact 18 this year so probably still 17,

Eoin Doran from Shamrocks is another goalkeeper on the panel. I think Masterson was dropped, but he still has another two years left to play. McNamee will probably stick with the 20 hurlers, though I could be wrong.

Caulry fielding 3 Adult teams thus year.
Unbelievable achievement for a small club

Best of luck to CBS mullingar tomorrow. Would be a huge result for the town and Westmeath football. When was the last time there was a Westmeath team in an all Ireland schools final?

Downs beat Lomans by a point tonight, new rules didn't really have a huge impact but that will come. Impossible for a referee with no linesmen. Both teams easily short 30 players between the two of them no exaggeration

Joe Moran was excellent for The Downs. Downs also had Andrew Kilmartin. Lomans had O'Hara and Daly too. Cillian Plunkett did well at midfield for Lomans. Ciaran Nolan good as usual

Youre looking as far back as 1981 when my old school Carmelite (now Moate C S) won back to back. Ironically had some great tussle with St Colmans Claremorris, the CBS opponent tomorrow. St Colmans beat Carmelite in an All Ireland final in the late 70s but Carmelite were a coming force and turned the tables on them in 81. I think it was that year that Carmelite and CBS met in a Leinster final. Carmelite had a great team, John Maughan and Val Daly from Galway. It would be huge if CBS could do it. CBS have already done Westmeath proud and hopefully they can go all the way now. Best of luck players and management.

Jason Daly was in goals which confirms his exit from the county set up, a fine servant, Fionn O' Hara shone for Loman's, excellent on kickouts, subbed near end, Loman's were down to 14 men near end, one of their forwards sent off, second half was decent, first half was tame

Huge occasion for Colaiste Mhuire, as stated other Westmeath schools have won Leinster in the past including St. Joseph's Rochfortbridge and Carmelite in the 70s and 80s, those schools had significant input from non Westmeath players like Val Daly and John Maughan and Aaron Kellaghan and Niall Smullen with St. Joseph's, today's Colaiste Mhuire panel has 32 Westmeath players and one sub from Ballinabrackey.

The conditions today suited the Claremorris side better. Without wishing to detract from their well-earned victory I think a pretty waterlogged pitch suited them as a physically bigger side. The Mayo school had certainly done some homework and were very strong up the middle. In reality most matches at this level are won here. Scored 4 Goals and possibly could have had one or two more in the second half on the break. Credit to a fantastic effort from the Colaiste Mhuire lads, they kept at it when little went their way. A super group of footballers coached by guys still playing themselves at a high level. Great Achievement for Westmeath to be there while certainly also, perhaps, a missed opportunity. I would not be in the least surprised to see them back at this fixture in 12 months.

Well put, Claremorris had there homework done as you say, a good few of there players looked stronger than any of the CBS lads. Darragh Beirne was playing in the Mayo senior championship last year. Not to be today but Colaiste Mhuire can be very proud of their efforts and achievements.

100% A Chairde, Some of the younger Colaiste Mhuire lads have been so good that the fact they are 16/17 has been overlooked in light of their performances. While they are now all following excellent S&C programs, a year in physical development during the teenage years is huge. They deserve huge credit,

Another one that got away today. Unlucky with a few refereeing decisions but thought the game still could have been won. McCormack is giving us nothing out the field to warrant his poor kickouts and the fact he's not a shot stopper. Ray connellan gave a terrible ball away for the goal. We also butchered a goal chance and took a few crazy shots in both halves (even with the strong wind in the first half). Relegation is a certainty now unfortunately. Also the decision to bring on Kieran Martin was questionable to say the least in a game where you needed legs

Fair points, our discipline was poor though, no need for lads to get involved when officials were there, the game changed when we were down to 13 for ten
Mins, Cavan a rabble until then, we had one wide and 16 points scored, agree on keeper, we were destroyed on kickouts in second half, not all his doing as going short not an option, can't expect Wallace, Sam Mc and Luke to be excellent every week, teams realise their importance, some of the younger lads impressive,

The most annoyed I've been after a Westmeath game in a long time. Granted that was a strong wind, but that second half performance was nothing short of disgraceful. Wind doesn't win breaking ball, and we lost 90% of breaks in that second half. Management NEED to be questioned after that game. McCormack in the goals offers us absolutely nothing. Poor, predictable kickouts. Even on the ball when going forward, he slows the play down and gives it away far too much. Too many passengers on the team. There are a couple of lads from a big club in Mullingar who have no business being on the panel. They don't even start every game for their club yet get lots of minutes with the county. Mind boggling.

Mcc cabe blaming toss coin I feel yes westmeath lost few players but westmeath also well in games but can't blame refs and toss of the coins and wind it's same for everyone.

Agree not blaming wind and toss of coins and new rules

Not sure is it fair or acceptable to label performance as disgraceful, our footballers have given everything in four matches against decent opposition, today was disappointing admittedly after playing superbly for 32 mins, we struggled hugely on kickouts in second half but we lack physical size a la Gearóid McKiernan for Cavan, Kevin O' Sullivan was super in opening half at midfield but he's not midfield for his club, we were also down two men and one man during second half and that's a big disadvantage on breaking ball, We didn't have midfield subs to bring in.
