Monaghan v Cavan

This is one of the oldest & strongest derbies/rivalries in the GAA. Both these teams contested several Ulster finals in the 1800's. Cavan folk are quick to point out " 5 all-Irelands", while us Farney are quick to ask them "did they enjoy them ?" ( 80+ yr olds exempt). I notice it's the only D1 league game that neither Rte/TG4 intend showing highlites off next weekend. Typical, we are well use to this type of treatment, I suppose combined pop. of both counties is less than 120,000...... so its always the minority that give way. This will be its usual tough & tight, too close to call. Any gamblers out there, a "red card" is a great bet! Blaney no doubt will be "rocking" next Sun. Here's hoping for a Farney win ! Everybody loves Clones!" We are too afraid to play it in Clones CavanMan, haven't you heard?! It should be moved in all fairness, it would halve the distance for most Cavan supporters and make it much more comfortable especially for families. Nothing between the teams on the pitch I would say, well except for mcmanus. That is a double edged sword for Monaghan because there is a huge reliance on his genius. Cavan probably have a physical edge and a better midfield-half forward line. Also, Monaghan do not do well when expected to win, so this could be one to avoid in the weekend accumulators. Cavans new additions to the panel look pretty good too, Smith and faulkner in particular . Where is Michael Argue by the way? Faulkner is around the panel a couple of seasons now but has had injuries. He'd be my pick to mark McManus with a sweeper in front. Argue is on the panel but didn't make the 24 for the Dublin game. Not sure if he was carrying a knock. Ray Galligan warmed up last Sunday so could be back in goals which would be huge for us. It'll certainly be tight but if we curtail McManus I'd be quietly confident. One of the games I always enjoy is against the Farney boys. Hasent been a whole lot between us over the last few years so I think it will be tight again. Yes Monagahan have Mc Manus but hopefully we can keep tabs on him. In all fairness he probably has been the best forward in the country for a while, and that coming from a Breffni man !! I'd say Blaney will be full and hopefully it can hold the numbers as there certainly will be a huge Cavan crowd travelling. Anybody know the capacity and parking situation?? The signs against the Dubs were encouraging and if we can cut out the errors then we have a chance. Its amazing RTE/TG4 are not even going to have cameras there. Im not sure what game I saw last sunday but cavan were well beaten by Dublin? People suggesting cavan put in a good show but they never looked like winning the game. It was over with 20 left. Do you remember the Dubs easily beating Kerry in last years Lge final? So maybe we arent that bad after all. The 20,000 packed into Breffni certainly enjoyed the fare and maybe if the Kerry ref was a little more even handed the score would have been a lot closer. And a young Cavan team making basic errors will always be punished in a higher League. The Dubs are a class team and nobody can deny that, and the supporters enjoyed their day out in Breffni as well. They put ogara in full forward and pumped in long balls hoping to grab a couple of goals. Cavan dealt well with them.
