rugby has against the head and (i think three documentaries) - gaa has league sunday plus sunday game plus thank gaa its friday plus toughest trade plus pairc life plus winning plus the geansai ) - - gaa wins on that one gaa has championship draw, all stars , qualifier draws on radio ---- no such rugby equivalent shown
no rugby world cup no pro 12 no champions cup -cant even outbid tg4 for that --no six nations from next year on
lot more radio coverage 3/4 games per week during summer compared to rugby, the champiosnhip radio show on fridays, the marty squad - no such rugby equivalent the davy fitz documentary
but oh silly me rugby get a bit more coverage on that almightly bastion of sports coverage the six one news -let get out our stopwatches and time it ,
another day has gone by and apart from soma - not one single solitary suggestion to improve coverage . loads of moaning and whinging and oooohhh sob sob rte hate us blah blah blah , but not a single suggestion for improvement ...i suppose we will have more fella posting critising rugby while their team is playing over the weekend !!!!" It's very telling how regularly and presumably knowingly you downplay/omit some rugby coverage and are so specific with the GAA coverage.
Every post you make on the coverage is hugely misleading and deceptive.

My post of later on that day tells what rugby is on rte as well as gaa
again maybe you might advise what coverage i have omitted and how my post is "hugely misleading and deceptive"

. Despite the fact they've been covering Gaelic Games for decades they haven't the expertise to come up with a successful preview/review show? Says it all, really. keeper7 (Longford) - Posts:3342 - 03/03/2017 23:46:08 1963 is the sunday game not a review show - its been going about 37 years so that would suggest its had a modicum of success

Well here you never mentioned the Champions Cup highlights shows on RTE and you reference league sunday and the sunday game as 2 when they are effectively the same thing. You consistently do this or lump rte and tg4 together as and when it suits your argument. You'd think tg4 never show rugby from your posts when in reality the have extensive rugby coverage.
You never make a fair like for like comparison. It's almost like you don't believe your own hype.

Breffni Well here you never mentioned the Champions Cup highlights shows on RTE because ther is no such show on rte it on tg4

they show plenty of it - they actually show more than rte -but for some reason its all anti rte here - tg4 shows 20s world cup including games not involving ireland and had the last two womens world cups -they have the champions cup highlights and also highlights of pro12, usually do 2 pro12 games per week
now in fairness they do great gaa coverage two - two games per week during league, 3 under 21 football, a lot of ladies games, around 10 under 21 hurling, 6 clubs games up to march and come september they will be back doing one and sometimes two club games per week , plus the highlights show on monday which also covers minor games.
i actually like their coverage of both gaa and rugby and would be happy if they got to do more of it - esp camogie,

Replying To keeper7: "It's a highlights programme." does it not review the action as well no? i.e. have panellists talking about what happened

Why on earth could they possibly want another GAA programme then seeing as you clearly believe that it's already more-than-catered-for?

Not bad on sport but spends too much time dedicated to bad news and glorifying gangsters for shock value.

Rugby and Leinster Schools Rugby has always got lots of negative coverage in many areas of the media. Lots of small bad incidents have regularly been overblown in the media simply because its involved kids attending fee paying primarily rugby focused schools. Bad coverage is far from secretive. Plenty of bad coverage in different areas on different aspects....

Replying To TrevorPhillips: "In my opinion if GAA dont turn professional soon then Rugby will take over" GAA doesn't have the resources to ever turn professional. Just suppose for a moment it did, it would automatically mean a complete separation between club and county with the county set up becoming professional/ semi -professional and the club set-up remaining amateur. I know some people think Sky is the Trojan horse by which professionalism will happen but unless they were to become some kind of sugar daddy and devise a long-term strategic plan to expand the appeal of GAA to a world-wide audience and throwing silly money at it in order to do so, this will never happen. Sky's ambition for the GAA is limited to gobbling up the Irish domestic market (to maximise its subscription levels in Ireland) and to mop up that relatively tiny percentage at the fringes of the British and overseas markets who might take out a Sky package in order to watch GAA. It has no ambition whatsoever to expand the global appeal of the GAA because that would cost it serious money.

I've nothing very meaningful to say here but I'm just flabbergasted that this thing still has legs after 62 pages! There's gaa clubs in every town land /parish in this country,in most of the secondary schools and universities. There's no story here,Gaelic games are thriving in fairness.

Rugby has its pockets but the GAA is number 1 in the fabrics of Irish society. Look I watch rugby in TV and will cheer on Ireland and the proveiences but I'm an armchair fan who has only ever been to one rugby match. Drive from Donegal to Cork and count the number of GAA clubs you will pass.
