so i heard yesterday morning that entry in to our county final was 20 euro,and decided not to bother going.
i get to quite a few club matches most years but due to other commitments this year (including a lot of overseas work) i decided i wouldnt have time.
but i am wondering should the cost of entry to club matches be standardised across the board?why should a county final in one county be cheaper than another?
20 seems outlandish to me.

I played 15 yesterday for the Leitrim Final but there were 2 good games so I thought it decent value even with the drive from Donegal.

I don't think entry to club games should be standardised though as all depends on market and differences as relevant between all counties

County boards are taking the p155 right across the country as most club players have to twiddle their thumbs or go to other sports whilst the "county team" are involved in competition and then expect these same players and supporters to dig deep and follow "the county" then when " the county" are eliminated they squeeze the games in and squeeze the supporters to the max £££sss they think they can get away with. Then they wonder why some clubs are struggling to field or amalgamating or worse folding. Locally all the soccer / rugby and hockey men and women can advertise a complete fixture list for all their teams before a ball is touched so at least players and supporters know exactly when and where any club team will be playing on any given date. For an organisation the size of the GAA who purport to be the life blood of the community, their fixture schedules leave a lot to be desired.

in limerick the the county junior hurling quarter final double header cost €10, standalone county hurling quarter finals are normally €8,
€10 being the same price as county senior hurling quarter final double header the following day or an under 21 munster championship game. €10/€8 for junior hurling is too dear - a fiver is enough - junior rugby in limerick has no charge

Junior rugby it will depend on the club and most do charge.
most junior rugby games dont charge - or maybe they just let me in for free -

10 euro for an adult junior game is fine depending on what stage championship you are at.
no its not its junior hurling for petes sake - in the same way as per my previous post below its not right to charge 5 and 6 years €5 each to watch junior schools rugby or charge €35 for an adult and two kids to watch a munster v connacht FRIENDLY in the TERRACE , you did disagree with my views on this

You do realise that all this money is used to help develop the game.
you do realise that people are price sensitive and in recessionary times will not pay exhorbitant prices for anything

Question for you - all of these cost me €10 this year - which games would you think had the least value for money
-limerick v clare nhl
- limerick v cork under 21
-limerick v tipp under 21 hurling
-limerick county hurling quarter final double header
- limerick hurling double header semi final and quarter final
- junior hurling quarter final

most people would think the latter - what do you think yourself

Where do you make up the short fall if you reduce ticket prices significantly.
-reduced prices will increase gates and programme sales thus making up some of the shortfall
-seek extra sponsorship
-sell extra advertising hoardings
-increase advertising pages in match programmes
- sell naming rights to gaelic grounds and other stadia

reduced ticket prices mean more people going to games more kids going to matches who in turn will be the coaches players administrators fans of the future.

At very least, Wexford county board could open a terrace or have cheaper entry for the open side of Wexford Park.

Personally I think a tenner is plenty for a club county final, fair price. Any more is a bit much for club games

I'm lower middle class...maybe I have more money than most people here because I don't think 20 euro is excessive for a county final. It's enough but not too much.

Just get the feeling sometimes that people brains are back in the 90's and are thinking 20 euro is equal to 20 punts when they are complaining about admission prices to Gaa games.
