Try Douglas at midfield.?

He's done it at club level, then again so have most of the panel, could be worth a shot.

Red meath id agree with you re: douglas at midfield.. I have seen him play a good few times with Trim and although he is not the tallest county player, he can rise with the best of them and is a very good fielder of high ball.. could be better suited to that role than tormey anyways.

zIiggy - We were playing against a very poor Armagh side (and no better than Longford or Louth)-some of our defenders cannot defend, are much to loose and easy to dispose off (same as last year). We had no forward who scored from play with a wind in our backs) in the second half and Armagh did not register a score in that half either. A win is a win but much stiffer opposition down the road

Thought Armagh let themselves down yesterday. Some of their players hadn't much interest in playing football and I felt there was a complete lack of discipline in their performance. Perhaps McGeeney is getting into their heads too much? Anyway, I'm glad to see we got on with our own game and got the win. We are playing more like a team and are starting to show that grit and determination that has been absent for a number of years. The players look to be enjoying their football more and morale is obviously quite high. I also notice that there seems to be more of a connection with the supporters, something which Micko has highlighted the importance of before. Lets hope we can continue in this vein and pick up another two points against Fermanagh.

Must say I am extremely surprised at the criticism of Armagh. The team out yesterday was very youthful and inexperienced. Bar one player I did not see too many bad challenges from Armagh. The 2 worst challenges in the game were frontal charges by Meath players. Instead of commenting on teams based on their, or their managers reputation, I prefer to comment on what I see. If Meath consider Armagh over physical yesterday wait until they play Cavan or Dublin later in the year. I picked these teams as they are neighbours of Meath by the way.

When we are talking about how good it was to see our lads getting stuck in and putting it up to Armagh the player who did that the most was Brian power
He is a much better option at wing back then Finn although I do like Finn as a player but for physicality he is far ahead

People are commenting on what they seen. Both side where guilty of rough play no doubt, but there was a lot of pulling and dragging by Armagh that was clear to see, and If the ref had of giving a black at the start it would have ended it. Anyway we won the game so it makes no difference to us now.

head4dblackspot, I am not sure how you can pick Power because of his physicality but leave McMahon on as he is the most easily pushed around / bullied player on team. Based on yesterday's game I would have Tobin ahead of him every day. Not sure if you are from Ratoath but there is a very strong ratoath bias on that team.

oldsam, you had Lenehan in your team. While McMahon didn't do a lot yesterday I felt he was a good bit better than Lenehan who hardly touched the ball. Also, this was McMahon's first game in a Meath jersey this season.
Regardless, I'd have Tobin ahead of both after his impressive performance off the bench.

Impressed with Newman yesterday. Seems to be playing with a good bit more confidence and poses more of a threat from open play.

Ratoath Royal, oh I know that I had Lenihan in my team. Think I had E. Wallace in a previous pick also. Lenihan was quiet last Sunday but he was still involved in a few good moves in the first half. Myself, I would stick with Lenihan for the moment anyway as he has shown good promise in the O'Byrne Cup. I would replace McMahon with Tobin next weekend after last Sunday.

I am not trying to raise the issue of Ratoath players etc again as it was beaten to death last year but I just pointed the inconsistency of playing McMahon ahead of Tobin while replacing Finn with Power because of the physicality of Power's play. Maybe it's just me but I thought that team was quite Ratoath focused with Bobby O'Brien in at CHF I think while not being on the panel last Sunday. If head4theblackspot is from Ratoath then he probably missed the whole O'Byrne Cup and perhaps that is the reason he veers towards Ratoath players in his selection.

head4dblackspot- So you would put 4 players on the team from a club that was hammered by an intermediate team and you would have no player from the two best teams in the county and furthermore you would have no players from the top 4 senior clubs in the county! - are you for real. None of the club players who came back from club duty improved the team from the previous week!. As an observation P Byrne would be better than at least 3 of the forwards who started last Sunday. Ye are prepared to pick the same players who have been there for past 2-3 years and who have not improved - 'keep doing the same thing and expect a different result'! When Northmeathman gave his honest opinion he was hammered on this board by guys who do not like some home truths.

I don't look at clubs when picking a team,I mean you shouldn't say go"Oh we have Na Fianna players we better put one in".You can't think like that.Look at the players on there own merits.What they do in training etc,not were they are from or not from.I though Power did well Sunday actually,better than any of the players in the half back line.

Not too sure many other teams in Meath would have done much better than Ratoath this season.Plus NOM were beaten by the Longford champions who then got hammered in the next round.
