Is it a current Monaghan player who is under investigation? The article on hogan stand said he had been a panel member in the past. I would be surprised if many players would take steroids or am I just totally out of touch. JimTheLegend (Donegal) - Posts: 247 - 10/05/2015 09:33:21 1721912 Link 0 |
Only inter county players are tested so I don't get that he doesn't play anymore? Is he not playing anymore cause he was caught? Not surprised it's rampant in all sports all over the world why should we be any different? clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 10/05/2015 09:46:44 1721916 Link 0 |
Clondalkin the article states that he was a fringe player and not on the panel anymore ie he was on a trial panel and didnt make the final panel. pooper_trooper (Monaghan) - Posts: 108 - 10/05/2015 10:21:09 1721922 Link 0 |
Could have failed for any number of reasons tbh, wouldn't read too much into a failed test which you could fail for any number of over the counter cures. GetOverTheBar (Tyrone) - Posts: 1388 - 10/05/2015 10:38:28 1721924 Link 0 |
My point is only inter county players are tested club players are not he's obviously on the panel wether fringe or not, like if he's on a B panel I'd be very surprised they test him. Hopefully he's innocent clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 10/05/2015 10:55:47 1721930 Link 0 |
why was he tested if he's not even on the panel? achara (Monaghan) - Posts: 584 - 10/05/2015 11:21:56 1721939 Link 0 |
I wonder when the test was, as the reports seem fairly specific that its not a regular. Do they test after McKenna Cup games I wonder? patk (Monaghan) - Posts: 938 - 10/05/2015 11:32:06 1721943 Link 0 |

This should be taken very seriously imo. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13796 - 10/05/2015 12:44:21 1721973 Link 0 |
Blood tests should be carried out on every county players at random times, from what I hear this isn't an isolated incident. kerryrowz (Kerry) - Posts: 833 - 10/05/2015 13:01:48 1721979 Link 0 |
What are the rules if a player is caught using PED? clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 10/05/2015 13:11:24 1721983 Link 0 |
I'm surprised there isn't more of it to be honest. Killarney.87 (Tipperary) - Posts: 2513 - 10/05/2015 13:45:54 1722002 Link 0 |

Didn't the Clare hurling panel and a couple of other inter-county teams get fines a few years back for changing training location without informing the doping authorities? I'd say with the level of testing it'd be fairly simple to avoid getting caught at the moment, I think only a couple of years ago there was about 80 tests done altogether between both codes, only urine tests aswel, very unlikely to find anything unless someone has just taken something 5 minutes before. It goes on in every sport, the only thing I could say for GAA is as amateur sportspeople the price of a proper doping programme would be difficult to attain. Also, there's the question of whether amateur sportspeople should be tested? extranjero (Wexford) - Posts: 375 - 10/05/2015 13:49:50 1722005 Link 0 |
