what do people think of the ad for the club championship with player giving a speech to his team-mates

I like it I must say. The man in question giving the speech is James Hickey of Mount Leinster Rangers before the 2014 All Ireland semi against Loughgiel Shamrocks in Newry. James played senior football and hurling for Carlow.

Doubt it was staged. He gave a similar speech at half time in the All Ireland Intermediate final in 2012 which they went on to win. In Carlow he is well known for this kind of stuff.

Good passionate rousing speech. Good ad. Daytona, it's hardly secretly filmed, AIB and GAA wouldn't use it if it was. I'd say though that a few good speeches were secretly recorded in dressing rooms. Davy Fitz's Hell for Leather, memorable/forgettable speech on that list. Definitely funny !

I think he makes one reference to we (team). He seems to overload on I - I want to be in Croke Park on Paddy's Day

Interestingly enough Rangers won that game but James done his cruciate and didn't get to play in all ireland final. He is from my club and is known for that kind of thing, think it's poor on AIB to not be playing an advert with this year's finalists in it. It was great last year and will live long in the memory down here. First carlow hurling team to play in an all ireland senior final.

It's a great ad. dont see the cringeyness at all.
the club champo in general is well marketed, dont know if the aib marketing dept are involved, but
the end credits of the toughest trade tv show (which was excellent but way too short) mentioned it was backed by aib.

I dunno how so many people think that ad is cringeworthy. I think its an absolutely brilliant ad, you have to admire his passion. To say displaying such emotion is cringey is a shame in my opinion.

Passionate guy , I don't go in for all that roaring and shouting thumping tables stuff.
Seen way too much of it in my day and it never served me well personally .
Only added to the nerves and when I went out I was flat as a pancake ..
I'd much rather calm and steely focused , but everyone's different
