Summerhill had a great chance against a vastly understrength Vinnies yesterday but were not able to take advantage of it.

The veteran Mossy scored 1-08 out of Vincents total haul of 1-14 and he was highlighted as the main man before the game but Summerhill couldnt cope with him at all.

Good game though.

Connolly was a big loss alright but i certainly wouldnt have classed them as vastly understrength. Brennan was no loss to them IMO, lots of talented players on show, Summerhill should be disapointed coming out of it, hit some awful wides. Mossy Quinn was outstanding and certainly the difference yesterday. Vincents/Portlaoise will be a tasty affair.

Great game well done both teams, just a point on the ref I am no way saying that it affected the result it's a general thing with refs now a days dalton and mossie who was unreal were having a mighty tussle until d bookin of dalton..it was a free yes but a yellow card nd a stern lecture was d end of that battle after 20 minutes,I just think refs r ruining our great game and as 4 next year it's going to b worse I think

Dalton had dispossessed Quinn on the first 3 attacks. He fouled on the next one and got a yellow card! This gave Mossie much more freedom for the rest of the game.

Dont normally bite but Highking12.. your ignorance of the game just has to be corrected. "Ger Brennan no loss"
Would this be the same Ger Brennan who has 2 senior all-irelands in the last 3 years playing the best position on the best team in Ireland, the same Ger Brennan who drove St Vincents to club all-ireland success in 2007/08, the same Ger Brennan where various managers of the Dublin team pick him at no 6 who have has won at least 5/6 Leinster championships, the same Ger Brennan who won the National League this year. The same Ger Brennan who scored a massive point with 10 minutes to go in this years all-ireland final..

I would suggest you are mixing him up with someone else or as your comment suggests to me, you know nothing about gaelic football.

Northmeathman - To be fair I agree that Brennan was not that much of a loss. He was replaced from the bench by Brendan Egan who has been playing senior for Sligo for years. He had an excellent game at centre back so in fact Brennan wasn't missed. Connelly on the other hand would have added a serious threat to their attack.

Northmeathman, don't often agree with you, as you no doubt already know. However on this matter you have it spot on. How could anyone say that Brennen wouldn't be missed regardless of who replaced him. Don't much like his attitude towards opponents but he is probably the best center half in the game today. If he was a Meathman he would be first man on MODs team sheet.

Well well, someone has an opnion and is villified for it. Calm down for a second and analyse what i actually said. I said Brennan was no loss because to that Vincents team on Sunday. And if you were at the game you would have seen he was no loss in that particular match. The fact you seem to base a potential performance of a player on what he has achieved in the past would indicate your ignorance not only of GAA but of sport as a whole. Ger Brennan was the weakest link in the Dublin backline for the whole of 2013 without exception and was very lucky to keep his place for the Final after getting cleaned out in the Semi. The fact Cian O'Sullivan won an All Star in his position probably says more than i can.

Having said all that he is still a massive player at club level. HOWEVER as RoyoftheRoyals correctly pointed out he was replaced by Brendan Egan and consequently his absense was of NO LOSS to Vincents against Summerhill on Sunday. Understand?

Well everyone is entitled to their opinion and i thought he was no loss because he was well compensated for. Didnt really stand out in any of the 3 Dub champo games i saw him in either to be honest. Connolly was the only massive absence there and to be honest with him they would have won a damn sight easier.
Brennan is a workhorse with poor enough positional sense as exposed last year by Gooch amongst others. If he starts CB for the Dubs this year in Leinster I will certainly stand corrected.

Just for the record, my analysis would be very close to highking12. It is quite interesting how often I have seen the weakest link on a half back line being the CB and you can see many examples of that even in club football over the last 30 years.- it amazes me!. Quite a few decent county players have problems excelling at club level when they are tightly marked by players who know their every move. Of course the really good players can adapt and perform at all levels. Most of the strong Dublin club teams would have a very strong 20/25 of a panel.

Have to agree with HighKing about Brennan. He was exposed by the Gooch. He was also being cleaned by Keith Higgins in the All Ireland Final but Mayo did him a favour by moving Higgins to corner back in the second half. Was also poor in both Dublin County Final matches against Ballymun.

why is most of this thread about a player who wasn't even playing!

The game itself was very even. Summerhill were probably the better team overall, created more chances but didn't convert them. Mossy Quinn was the difference, without him Vincents had very little in attack. The hill had a number of different scorers again.

Hard to argue with this..i take it Brennan will be sub for St Vincents to be replaced by Brendan Egan of Sligo..
