Ciaran Murphy has a decent book. Can't think of the name of it. About his life playing with Miltown in Galway and then to the club in Dublin plus his work as a journalist and then podcasts. eoinog (Sligo) - Posts: 1968 - 12/07/2024 12:26:37 2558540 Link 1 |
Just bought it now. It is difficult to get some of these classics. Is there a GAA book shop in Croke park that sells them or do they just get lost in time once out of production?

Read Philly McMahon's book recently. It's not your bog standard GAA autobiography. I found it an interesting read. Lots about growing up in Ballymun and the challenges that brought, including his brothers battle with drug addiction. Ban (Westmeath) - Posts: 1467 - 03/08/2024 20:49:44 2563723 Link 3 |
For those that rem that wet sunday in Croker in 1982 the Gaa drink culture of that time Seamus Darby autobiography book 'About that goal' is a great read. I was at the game but only now got the book. banada (Sligo) - Posts: 50 - 07/08/2024 03:44:12 2564112 Link 1 |
A great read. As somebody who grew up on Northside of Dublin, I was lucky to have a family support around me to help me avoid those pitfalls but I too know people who were not so lucky.

I would say that book sowed the seed of what was to follow from 2018 onwards .....

I don't think I've ever seen so many excuses for not winning and it's across multiple decades. Going by the comments Limerick should have won ever All-Ireland ever played. What's interesting is how many lads were just playing for themselves. Trying to take credit for scores etc Tom Ryan the manager from the 90s tended to get very personal with some of his comments at times as well. It also gives a good insight into the way CBs can only be interested in keeping themselves in jobs etc oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1475 - 30/11/2024 07:48:30 2581749 Link 0 |

I see Richie Hogan has brought out a book. While he was a great player and all I can't see anything that would stand out in a book bychom. oneoff (UK) - Posts: 1475 - 30/11/2024 11:19:02 2581755 Link 1 |
