Intermediate Championship

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Right folks, let's get this going. Who do you fancy to win the Intermediate. At the start I thought Cootehill with such a young and up-coming team they would walk it but looking at the likes of Ballyhaise and Killeshandra it will be very tight. Still reckon Cootehill are going to go very close.

Thought I would bring this topic up again. Come on people what's your opinion? Who will take it this year. Will it be Ballyahise's year?

Has to be Killeshandra with Bailieborough dark horses, heard Cootehill got it tight against them.

coothill found it hard to bat b.boro because they played with 13 behind the ball for most of the game , 4/5 of there 7 scores came from a dead ball! coothill were never really under any problems from b.boro. b.boro could make 1/4 or even semi final if the go and play man to man good side, if they can stick together in 2/3 years they will be in the mix, i feel the inter champ is betweeen k.shandra, coothill and b.haise

Agree with Paulie, hard to look past Killeshandra,Ballyhaise and Cootehill with Killeshandra being my favourites just about.
Swanlinbar and Bboro no chance.Bailieboro playing seriously puke football at times.

Don't know about Killeshandra winning it. For some reason I think it's Ballyahise's year. B'boro beat Killeshandra in the league and to be fair to the teams in that league it is a very very weak league. Don't think they would have had to many competitive games to win it this year, where as Ballyahise has been doing well all year, getting players back and with the likes of Kevin Tierney I can't see them been stopped. Not to sure about Cootehill, I think they won with allot up there sleeves against B'boro, B'boro parked the bus and were playing 13 men behind the ball I heard. I just wonder about the young team they have, thinking the may get to the final again and with such an in-experienced team, they could brick it again.

interesting draws. i feel ballyhaise are the team to beat. with cootehill not far behind them.. bailieborough bet killishandra by 9 points in the league and completely outplayed killishandra so unsure about killishandra. so the favorites for me are ballyhaise and cootheill. and my dark horses are shercock and bailieborough. bailieborough didn't show up against cootehill but only lost by 4 and spurned a few goal chances. if they could find there league form it would be interesting. shercock have a few very talented young players and will give as good as they get to any team.

Would have to agree with you totally. Funny enough I heard Cootehill won with alot in hand against B'boro, heard they beat them at their own game with physicality. Think Breffni park suits Cootehil down to the ground though, they are a great running and makes it a good team to watch. Also heard B'boro played with 13 men behind the ball so they are obviously catching on to "Puke Football" now to. Can't see a team coming close to winning it playing like that. Shercock will be interesting alright, few good young players coming through/ If they win their next game they will be flying and could be hard stopped.

Was at Cootehill/Bboro game. Bboro missed a goal chance in second half. It was their only one in the game if I recall but it definitely could have changed the game for them. They had a 7 minute period in the second half which they scored 3/4 unanswered points. Took away the one sided look of the game. Cootehill never really had to break stride to win the game. If Bboro beat Laragh, they'll have to use Argue in the middle against Cootehill. They can't afford not to have him on the ball. Shercock have come in very much under the radar but think it will take them another few years to contest at intermediate. Killashandra are very strong and playing D.McKiernan at center forward instead of midfield gives them extra scoring power which they lacked last year. B'haise havn't really impressed yet. They're running well in the League but hard to go by League form. Was very disjointed the whole year. They will need to lay a marker down in QF.

b.boro bet k.shandra in league by 9 , K.shandra missing 4 lads , cootehill bet b.boro the 1st day missing 5 , 4 of which started inter final last year, cant see b.boro losing to laragh, and therfore b.boro v cootehill round 2 which i see cootehill winning easy, shercock v drumlane tight game to call , drumlane had a run of 15 losses in league but now have won 2 on the trot in champioship, shercock will be boosted with the return of chicken and shanky. b.haise didnt look great i heard v k.kere , swad could surprise them with the return of forward mark cunnigham(10 points in last game).drung v k.kere is close and could surprise k.shandra , either way the big 3 got kept apart, who will make it tru ?

I think shercock will be there cootehill I was at there game vs Bailieboro and to be honest I wasn't blown away by cootehill are they not a division higher?
Bailieboro were poor at times and didnt use argue much and still managed to stay in the game so a few tweaks and better decisions bailieborough could be in the mix too, but a few things needs to change which I highly doubt will happen management Is very poor!!

WAS AT THE LARAGH/BAILIEBORO GAME LAST EVENING AND WHILST NOT HUGHLY IMPRESSED WITH BAILIEBORO OVERALL WOULD HAVE TO SAY MICHAEL ARGUE WAS IN FINE FORM HAD A FEW DODGY MOMENTS BUT GENERALLY IMPRESSED BUT FOR ME THE BIGGEST IMPRESSION WAS GILSENAN THE GOAL KEEPER HE GOT HIS FIST TO A COUPLE OF DANGEROUS SHOTS HIS FREE TAKING WAS WITHOUT FAULT FOR A YOUNG MAN GETTING OVER AN ANKLE INJURY HE LOOKED VERY COMPOSED IF THE REST OF THE TEAM CAN LIFT THEIR GAME A NOTCH BAILIEBORO COULD GIVE COOTEHILL A TIGHT GAME

Would have to disagree totally with you there. I was at the b'boro game last night against laragh and my god what an atrocious game of football to watch. Laragh were so poor in everything they did. B'boro playing with this 13 mens behind the ball system as usual. Argue was made look like an all star in the middle as the two midfielders were not fit to move for Laragh. He won't have the same freedom against Cootehill and if Cootehill get them in Breffni I think they will win comfortably. Was talking to some man at the game last night aswel, heard Ballyhaise didn't play to well in their last game against killinkere and with Drung after beating them, does anyone reckon Drung is a suprise package? Drung also missed 3 free's from the 21 and 2 other easy enough ones early on in the game. They looked fit also which is unusual for a Drung team. Could suprise Killeshandra.

swad man theres not a chance that drung could be a surprise package. there were well beaten by shercock in the first round. very poor game last night against kilinkere 2 poor teams really. laragh dissapointed me last night. just never even looked like they taught they could win from the start. bailieborough probably the strongest of last nights teams. they wont be far away. but for me i feel this championship will be won by ballyhaise. interesting to note how nobody is talking about swanlinbar. semi finalists last year and have gained a good bit of experience the last 3 or 4 years. im sure they will be loving this down in swad nobody is giving them a hope.

asdfg we are loving it down here big time. The lads are putting in serious efforts this year, best I have seen for a while yet with a few young lads coming through. Hopefully we can go close this year but will be tough from now on in. Still have to agree with you and say Ballyahise will win it for me this year. Strongest team all round they have and with Tierney coming back from injury now they will be hard stopped. Anyone know any young lads to look out for this year of the teams left?
