Predictions For This Weekends JFC, IFC, SFC Games

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

The county finals schedule was drawn up quite a while back, it is just by chance that there are 3 kells teams the one day, the CCCC dont sit around wondering what might suit people , anyhow i doubt if many of Kilmainham or Drumbaragh will hang around especially after winning/losing their own final

Gaeil Colmcille v Clann naGael
Only one team I can go for here Kells bet Castletown so are sure to win it out Shaw, McAnarney and I hear Fitzpatrick out for Athboy so the steep hill is now a shearing cliff. Not that Kells are great but it is Division 1 v Division 3 and in my mind near enough a non event, but Athboy will try hard and may hold Kells to 7 or 8 points if things go well

Kilmainham v Drumbaragh
This will be a really exciting game. Micky Newman has to be the difference and with the Drumbaragh full back out the task is now tougher. Finno Murtagh is a great manager and will get the very best out of the Emmets and they have some fine players in the Carry's McNamara, Nulty and the Smiths, Kilmainham are in pole position to over turn the Tailteann result but if Trevor Lynch had not gone off that day Kilmainham would and could have won. Kilmainham by a few.

If na fianna play way they can they'll win by 7 or 8 points no matter what way summerhill play. End of story girls

JoeJoeJ - you might be right but Summerhill stopped O Mahony's from playing to beat them. If they can repeat that you would have to fancy them for this game too. Hill to win.. marginally

Bad injury to Barry Lynch early in the replay. Drumbaragh up by 3pts and have hit the post. Kilmainham very one dimensional. Everything being hit up to Mickey Newman.

Drumbaragh 7pts - Kilmaimham 4pts at HT. Full time score Kilmainham 0-10 to Drumbaragh 1-13. Both teams finished with 14 players and Mickey Newman had Penalty saved. Best team won over the 2 games it has to be said. Kilmainham had no Plan B at all. Loss of influential Barry Lynch in first few minutes didn't help though....

Summerhill v Na Fianna
What Final tradition v new club. There is no doubt this will be a serious specitial Na Fianna and Summerhill have probably never played a competitive match before but that ends tomorrow with keen edge competitivness the key word. Na Fianna's front 6 are better than Summerhills Summerhills backs are better than Na Fiannas. Midfiels is a serious clash Queeny will pick up Gillispie and if Queeny puts in an hours shift that will decide a lot he tends to drift in and out. Lewis is the stand out player of the championship so far and will if allowed dominate this area. Larkin is in good form but I think Michael Farrelly is a fine player and will match him. Foley is a great player for Na Fianna so I expect Na Fianna to break even in this vital line and I expect Dalton to start in place of young Ryan will Dalton play on the na fianna sweeper Crosgrave he might but that could open the Summerhil backs on a 5 on 5 suitation which will suit Na Fianna more McDonagh and Barrett are letal. It is important that Dean Barrett starts and is fit to play. Dardis if given room could be a match winner but cant see him getting much leeway.
Na Fianna have the players Summerhill arent to bad either will Na Fianna let the occassion get to them Summerhill have the tradition and the know how they should never have bet Dunshaughlin 2 years ago but they did. I PICK nA fianns style to do it and to go on to do well in Leinster as a new style of Meath champion.

Junior B
Oh how Moynalty need this and to get out of Junior B. Navan is their grave yard but at least this time it is not a 2nd team they play. they where impressive in the semi win over a highly rated Seneschalstown. but i mentioned Boardsmill here way back and and they have not disssapointed. Moynalty have some good young lads but dont seem to be playing them Old men dont win games in Navan. Boardsmill have good young lads and are playing them. Has this final come a bit soon for them maybe. the heart says Moynalty and my heart has been better than my head a few times this year. !!! I will go with my head and a hesident vote for Boardsmill

congratulations to summerhill on their victory yesterday experience was the difference in the end. na fianna should take great encouragement from their performance. they missed a few vital chances when game was tied 1-10 each probably could of retained posession to work a score in a better position. poor old moynalty yesterday they should use this as a stepping stone towards the league next year and build towards another junior B challenge. drumbaraghs better use of possesion was the difference in the junior A final. however kilmainham recieved terrible luck with barry lynch and darren o'sullivan going off after 15 minutes as well as loosing there full forward before the game. Small clubs like kilmainham and drumbaragh cant afford to loose so many starting players and expect to win. Possibly kilmainham left it behind them on the Sunday with 2 terrible mistakes gifting drumbaragh 2 points in the final 5 minutes.
