just an idea... mackey to drop out round the middle, before the 1st round last year cavan were pinning all our hopes on him playing well, then he was dropped, he has surely done enough to be brought back in?

If have been to a lot of Club games in county and believe this is best team. I have given james Reilly the nod because of his presence and Kick outs. At cornor back I have gone for Padraigh Reilly because this is his best position, Jason Mcloughlin is the best Cornor back in the county and we lost U-21 semi final when he went off, Killian Clark at full back is an execllent prospect but not finished article but no other full back in the County anywhere near good eonugh

Damien Reilly at center back is the man for the position, cavan have had serious problems with center half back. Chesty Reilly is the natural for the position but wont play. Damien Reilly is next beast and won a ulster medal in that position for St.Pats. The two Cootehill men on the wings are the best in county I know Hayes plays Center back but he attacks to much to play center back for county but is a brilliant opition for wing back. Dean Connolly is like another foward with his pace and distribution.

Mossy Corr and Mccuthon at Mid-field are the beat opition they give us what we dont have a physical presence. McCutheon destroyed McKiernan this year while Corr is the ideal parthner as he wil hold the center while McCutheon attacks.

Mckiernan best position is wing forward, he gives a presence and direct running will cause problems for every one. Keathing Is the best Center Foward in Ulster. Why Club and County Presist in playing him inside is beyond me. He has everything a Good center foward needs, Pace, strenght, good distrabution, will score. Paul Brady is the best wing foward in County. He was best player on the field v KIllygarry in Semi Final. Hi running and fitness and clever use of ball would give Cavan another dimention. However with his handball he prob cant play county so Keth Fannin is defently next best option.

Connor Finnegan is the most effictive full foward in the County. Has serious strenght and will at worst brak the ball. McDermmott had the beating of every full back line the ballinagh played this year. Enda O Connell is a man who hast gotten a chance at senior level yet, like McDermott has the beating of most full back lines and will score if given enough ball.

Is this the same O'Connell, who plays wing back for Castlerahan.?? Think your getting him confused with his twin Oisin...

brads, you call keating the best CHF in ulster? where do you get this from, he has never played there for club or county? FF or MF for cuchalainns and FF for cavan are where he has played for the last 2 years.

your rating him on 3 years ago?? and anyway he played centre half back under Fintian Cahill not CHF, and it was playing that position that got Keoghan to call him up for the backdoor game. get your facts right

Brads.
Fair play to you for naming your team. A few comments i'd have are
1. Full back line is pretty solid.
2. Have not really seen the two wing backs play. Damien Reilly has not even played senior championship for Belturbet this year. Mckeever should be a wing back.
3. Mossy Corr, a sub maybe. Would have David Givney here instead
4. Paul Brady will be finished playing football after this year I think
5. O Connell was anonymous in the semi final v Kingscourt. Saw Finnegan v Crosserlough in the drawn game, was nothing hectic.

Any forward if given enough ball will get scores. Law of averages. But the harsh reality is, at county level, a forward may only get 5 or 6 balls in his direction in a game & if he is not winning & converting 90% of these, he will be walking towards the bench.
Usefull additions if in the country & willing to commit : James McEnroe, Dermot Sheridan, Alan Clarke, Jack Brady, Eoin McGuigan, Killian Brady, Barry Reilly, Niall Smith, Martin Dunne, Sean Reilly, Niall McKiernan

It was St Pats second year playing in Leinster, the first year they didn't have much success.

Brads i dnt agree with your team at all. your fullback line is solid. half back line is weak. hayes is a good club player i think he would find it hard at county level and connelly wing back is not an option. hes quick but i dont think hes strong enough. i think there are far better wing backs in the county than him. i dont think mcCutheon is quick enough or a great catcher of the ball at midfeild. he would be decent at CHB. half forward line is good but cud be better. niall murray or niall smith would be options for there ball carrying and distribution. paul brady would be a excellent wing forward but can he play due to handball commitments?? in the full forward line i tink conor finnegan is abit young. iv seen him play a few times this year and he hasnt been great. McDermott has the quality to destroy any back in the country with the right supply of ball to him. i dnt knw much about o connel so i cnt say anything of him. martin dunne and kevin tierney would be great in the full forward line along with jack brady. My proposed team:

J Reilly

J.Mcloughlin
K.Clarke
P.O Reilly

K Meehan/ T Smith
J McCutheon/D Reilly
R Malony Derham/Hayes(if stronger)

Givney
McKiernan

N.Smith/N Murray
B Reilly
P Brady/M Reilly

M Dunne
K Tierney
J Brady

plenty other players in contention on current form but then its down to terry to pick them nit me
