And why not? Posters on here are queuing up to congratulate gaa players who receive professional AFL contracts,so why not congratulate those who receive professional GAA contracts? At least the latter would be staying within the GAA.

A great article. Plenty of high profile people in the GAA think like him but they dont come out and say it and thats the difference with PG, he came out and said it. Now thats a man that actually cares about the association. He saw the writing on the walls years ago xnd made no secret of what he saw unfolding. It boggles the mind that an association with a stadium long paid for need more and more money (way above inflation rates and necessary costs) each year yo run the place. Money into coaching seems to be the excuse but I cant see where all this morning is actually going. More like money into GPS trackers, stats men and laptops and the journey man manager (paid in a roundabout way). One half of our association is professional albeit unintended but if we make the other half (the players) professional then we can kiss it goodbye. Imagine what this will do to grassroots volunteerism. Please read Pats piece link above. We can't say we weren't warned.

Sorry I misunderstood what he was saying based on your excerpts. Hes not proposing we go professional. I disagree strongly that the Association wants to go professional. In fact its quite the opposite. They are looking hard at ways to reduce paying people, over or under the table. Measures like no outside managers at club and county etc are designed to tackle these problems.

No harm done, I do agree he's not proposing that we go professional, what he said was -
"I could be wrong on the pro thing but my eyes tell me I'm not." Down through the years successive presidents have clearly failed to halt the under the table payments.
