Hi, Wondering could anyone clarify the rule of underage players playing in isolation in a dual/twin club to their primary (footballing) club? Rule 6.8 of the Con' seems to be the rule of reference, but seems to refer specifically to the Primary club. No mention of the secondary club. Our own club (a Dual Club, but historically a strong football club) interprets it that their underage hurling teams can take in no more than 4 "isolated" players from outside football clubs. Can't get a straight answer from the club. T

I dont think that there is a nationsl rule on that. I think its dealt with at local county board level. You are supposed to play the other sport with the nearest provider of that sport( in most cases nearest provider of hurling) but some counties dont have a parish rule for example. I believe that in Westmeath and Roscommon you can hurl for whoever you want in the county unless there is a pre existing link between the football and hurling club( both in same parish and opposite sides of the same coin type scenario). Ive never heard of a limit on the amount of players though. Thats either a club rule( to protect their own) or a county board bye law to spread the talent.
