Really hope we go for the juggler, pressure is off, guaranteed Championship football and division 2 status.

Great opportunity to go and really express ourselves."
Agreed. Think there is a bit of pressure on Cork and they don't tend to deal too well with expectation. Costello would be a big loss but there is likely to be rotation next two games and benches emptied early at least so expect lots of opportunities for new players to stand up and make a claim.

A 20mph westerly wind forecast for the game tomorrow(Pairc ui Rinn sits East-West) so likely a game of two halves. Would be a lovely day for Duke and Frayne to come into form for the type of wind assisted two pointers we saw this time last year.
Also a small chance that it won't rain during the game, although pitch will likely be slippy.
Most people on the main forum,s predictions thread are seeing Cork edge this one. Has a draw at 9/1 written all over it.

Yes hope they approach with this positive attitude. Knowing the way RB has worked so far. I'm confident they will. I'm going back and forth on expectations for this game. Wouldn't be surprised if we lost to Cork and Kildare and then beat Tyrone. It's such an all or nothing approach to matches. No a complaint, just very hard to get a read on this team. As fun as they are to watch. But when we hit those purple patches we're close to unplayable.

2 minutes before half time we're a killer. Certainly not a time to drop the heads. Kildare are dangerous but not in form, same with Tyrone. Offaly have given up. It's looking very possible that 3 teams could finish on 12 pts this year.

Disappointing result with the game really in the melting pot being just a point down with 6 or 7 minutes remaining. Cork saw it out and some mistakes were made coming down the straight. Thought Brennan might be better placed to take on one or two of those long range free opportunities towards the end. Kinsella played very well but was badly caught in possession. Our backs were cut through too easily at times but the same could be said of theirs. Midfield suffered especially on Cork's overload kickout with McBride particularly bullied. Jack O'Connor had a decent impact but still made mistakes as did Banty Conlon who could have had another 1-2. Looking at our backs without Rafferty we are a little short on size and physicality. Just need to dust ourselves down and try and get a positive result versus Kildare who will be fighting for their lives. Win that and we still have a really good promotion chance. At times we were very good today with Frayne, Morris and Kinsella doing welo in forwards but we have some obvious limitations especially on breaking ball and one to one defending.

Had plenty of chances in last few minutes to win, but in fairness Cork left a few goals out there also. Thought they just deserved the win, transition from defence to attack was much faster than us and their ball handeling was impressive. Our defence was opened too easily especially in first half and still an area of concern. Saw one of our lads on crutches after game could not make out who it was.

Cork deserved winners without a doubt.

Meath had enough chances to salvage something from it but we were so headless and leaderless.

Battled away which was admirable but Cork always held their cushion.

Comprehensively beaten in midfield and that's a major worry because we were living off of scraps.

We move on. But the worries I raised after Cavan and Louth game remain and caught up with us today. Kildare and Tyrone there for the taking and I would expect Derry to beat Cork. All to play for but we have to sort ourselves out quickly

Cork never went behind after the 3rd minute. Sounded like our midfield never got on top and Cork got scores every time they needed them. Raff was a loss but think we're still short another top defender. Winning 2/3 of the remaining games and getting to 10 points is probably a realistic target for us. Problem is that Cork only need to win one and they have us on the head to head. Derry will fancy their chances of winning two of their remaining games so could come down to score difference if 3 teams finish level on 10 points….

Agree. The only thing I would say is we have been open at the back & given up goal chances in nearly every game. I don't think it's at the expense of RAF not playing. Think we need to collectively get this problem sorted and I'm sure Robbie & co will. The biggest area we need to improve on and it's been evident in most games

We have a problem with attacks up the middle so far in the league . Our CB is too far up the pitch in my opinion. Defending should be his No 1 job but he attacks more than defends. McBride having to go off injured was a major factor. We lost most of the midfield battles after that. Some of decision making on the ball was poor even from our more established players. I don't understand why our keeper wasn't allowed to have a go at 2 frees on the seating stand side. He drilled one over in the first half into the wind. Surely with a shot with the wind. Hindsight is a great thing. Jones could be available for next week which would be a great help if Costello isn't available. The later was a massive loss today. Always worth a few scores.

A fair summary

Agreed. Not sure our half backline are defending very well one on one or when they run towards own goal. Cork got through really easy and by time they are running at fullbackline its too late. Another thing noticable especially in first half was a lack of agression in bursting out with the ball and just handing it sideways or backways to player beside them. Bursting out with agression gives the team a lift while hesitancy is lifting the opposition.

A strange game our backline were struggling with cork running straight through us and could have had a few more goals. Our midfield were very poor not winning any ball and all the breaking ball went to cork. On the positives conlon looked lively in the forward line when he came on and could have got a goal. When Cork went down to 14 we got more on top but the better team won on the day . Beat Kildare next Saturday and we will be back on track and Offaly might be already gone down by the time we play them.

Think we have to start looking at bringing in a few of the u20s. Michael mcciver looks like a horse of a man

I wouldn't be rushing into bringing in u20s until we see how the panel looks when we get everyone back from injury - Jones, Kinlough, Hickey, Curtis etc

Anyone know the extent of these injuries and raffertys?

Unfortunately I would have to agree with this. The most disappointing/surprising thing is we brought in a transition coach with a reputation for coaching teams to play a fast attacking style from defence. There were signs of this in parts of the first 2 games but little against Louth and it was non existant yesterday. Maybe I am being harsh but I expected more in this area given the appointment. Eoin Frayne was the one big positive yesterday, he looked far sharper and looked a real scoring threat again. Would still be confident heading to Newbridge, our forwards should get us over the line.
