This Keep Ball At End Of A Gaa Game Has To Be Tackled

(Oldest Posts First)

Tomsmith here

The new rules RE oK AND THE Hooter is great but this keep ball near the end of the Game has to be tackled as it will lead to a stampede near the end at supporters (or fans to Ulsterman ) will stampede to the exists once the team leading on the scoreboard gets possession.
It wasent foreseen by wisemen that this negative aspect would rare its head.
I have my views on how to face this GAA challenge
What do you think ?

We need time to understand what you're saying and to get our breath back first after reading that with no full stops.

Lol.

I know what he means and am going to reply to him anyway.

The hooter makes no difference here. A team with a narrow lead near the end of the game is going to try keep possession of the ball anyway, whether the end of the game is signalled by a hooter or in the "old-fashioned" way of a referee blowing the whistle.

So... once it's clear that a team is going to win, there's going to be a stampede? Sixteen games happened over the weekend, there was a point in each of them where the losing team wasn't going to win, and there were no stampedes.

Maybe they should ban draws in the league, because that means you have both sets of supporters heading to the "exists" at the same time. In fact... you'd probably need to ban full time in close games for the same reason. Ban the referee's full time whistle. Supporters can get a text when the game is over, and they'll all get the text at different times spread out over 20 minutes, thus minimising the risk of a tragedy. Places like Fraher Field are notorious death traps.

Sorry... I spent way too long replying to this, but at least it gave my brain a bit of a workout.
