If only there were more lads like him in the county that put in the amount of work outside of training sessions that he does

I was impressed with Colin Carthy, has a bit of a physical presence about him.

Reminds me a bit of Bonner Maher (Or maybe that's the way to get the best out of him) although my father was saying he thought he was more like John Power from Kilkenny (The one who was around in the late 80s, 90s, and early 00s, not the one who around in the early 2010s)

There was some big results at the weekend, senior looks to be between Rathnure and Martins. Relegation between Fethard and Oulart. Inter Ballymurn and I'd still fancy Cloughbawn even though there were bet surprisingly. Davidstown still have a chance be beating Ballyfad, Inter A looks to be be Gusseranes to lose. Looking at relegation, I'm shocked to see Taghmon there, maybe Viking you can shed some light? They were one of the better teams in intermediate a few years ago. And after 20 games no team promoted last year has won a game. Horeswood still have a chance but I'd expect them to finish bottom. alwaysasub (Wexford) - Posts: 610 - 02/08/2026 21:45:19 2688493 Link 0 |

He was great,. Took a few balls out of the sky which is what Wexford lack I think. I was also impressed by Dunne in midfield for Oilgate. I don't get home often so never see.many games but whats his story in terms of intercounty? WEXILE (Wexford) - Posts: 522 - 02/08/2026 23:53:16 2688503 Link 0 |

Seen the games yesterday in Bellefield. Think Shels are building nicely again have brought through some young players who are having a real impact. Gorey seem to be struggling for scores are reliant on goals to keep them in games. WexMurph (Wexford) - Posts: 361 - 03/08/2026 07:37:21 2688507 Link 0 |

We took our eye off the ball as regards underage. Numberswise we are a smaller club. For around the last decade now up until 4 years ago at u11 all our teams were training once a week, largely only from April to September. Some of the coaching was pretty ordinary also. So lads stepping up to adult had played most of their underage hurling in div5 and we werent/aren't getting enough players through who are ready made for Intermediate. Couple that with some of our best players being injured or in Oz and thats why we are where we are. In recent years we have tried to change this, now all our teams start back in January or February, and our u14s downwards are currently training twice a week, and mostly over an hour a session. This will work its way up to minor in the coming couple of years. All of these younger groups are doing some sort of winter hurling also. Numbers are still generally small though. A bit like the county, we got left behind a little when competitors started doing more than we did at underage. Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 20406 - 03/08/2026 08:31:32 2688512 Link 0 |

Was in bellefield too,i agree with you about the shels building nicely, lots of young lads plenty of legs and playing a style that suits them,on the other hand gorey look way off it as regards there fitness and like the the shels trying to play the short passing/running game that i dont think suits them at all because they havnt the fitness or legs really!!! Martins in cruise control, lots of really good hurlers to many really!!! Down players and down a man for the whole second half and beat the harriers at there ease!!! Maddock done a serious job on chin until the sending off, then barrett took over with the same effect!!! Harriers lacking leadership, not sure where richie kehoe is or is he injured but they could be doin with a figure like that!! Thought harriers had no answer to the martins, very dissappointing really, having looked good v gorey!!

Got the two games on Saturday in Belefield and two games on Sunday .. Not much to add to the Sunday games - Martins really upped the pace after the sending off and the Harrier wilted badly. Once Chin is curtailed it's the same issue with no one else standing up. Shels looked very impressive again. I do think they are strong contenders this year to dethrone the Martins. Gorey just don't seem to be up to much currently - when the pressure comes on they seem to fade badly. MyOhMi (Wexford) - Posts: 358 - 04/08/2026 08:50:24 2688602 Link 0 |

Don't think he's ever been considered tbh, don't think he was ever involved in a Minor or U20/U21 set-up, think he's about 25/26/27?

How old is Glynn's Liam Donoghue? Was he eligible for the Wexford U20s this year? ElGranSenor (Wexford) - Posts: 1475 - 04/08/2026 08:54:19 2688604 Link 0 |

As poor as Oulart were vs Rathnure by all accounts, I fancy them to nick a win against an albeit improving Glynn, and I can't see a stagnant Ferns side beating Rathnure on the same day, so that would leave Ferns in the relegation vs Fethard. That would be too hard to call. Does anyone know Davidstown's Oisin Hayes' pedigree as regards to underage county? Looks to me to be as good a freetaker as there is around the county at the minute, one of the areas we need looking at. Thomas O'Connor and Rhyan Whelan may be worth considering too. beano (Wexford) - Posts: 1565 - 04/08/2026 11:21:55 2688620 Link 0 |

Yeah and given their catchment area extends far into rural parts of the surrounding area, you would think they would have somebody able to do it for them...
