Hypothetically speaking if league from mid February and All Ireland club championship completing in a calendar year were on the agenda: intercounty season would have to run for 5 months from mid February to mid July. Pat Spillane would combust! RTE would be in meltdown! Club season then would have to run from mid July to mid December. Provincial club championships would have to squeeze like sardines."
Wouldn't be too concerned about squeezing Provincial and AI Club Championships.
Less than 10% of clubs take part and half of them only play 1 game.
Letting the Club AIs spill over to January is fine.
Only 24 Clubs partake.

I wouldn't be too concerned about them either.

Trying to complete them in the calendar year would mean squeezing every other club in the country for the sake of the 24 who make it to an All-Ireland semi-final, or the 12 who make it to a final.

And in fairness, if my own club ever got to that stage, training over Christmas and playing in January wouldn't be a bad "problem" to have. I'd gladly take it if anybody offered it right now!

Clubs are getting a raw deal in the split season. Hurlers have sat out the national league and been ready for championship. The football league is linked to championship so there's more pressure in football for availability during the league. County leagues run parallel to the All Ireland championship but the national league isn't running parallel to the end of the club championships. The balance seems off.

Are they all keeping their thoughts secret ? Where is all the outrage? In what counties are these clubs who are unhappy?
