Replying To Doylerwex:  "Getting good reports on Corcoran's form at the minute"
On South East Radio?! Seriously though he's got potential, played underage for the county, nice to see him starting to get on the pitch for your Senior team off the bench last year. He won SETU Carlow's hurler of the year at the end of last season.

I had seen about this Corcoran lad last year up in Carlow that he got hurler of the year, seen on social media, was wondering why he wasnt hurling with the harriers?? I was informed he that he got sports person of the year not hurler?? Was told he was average enough?? Havnt heard much more about him maybe a late developer?? Dundon at wing forward strange one?? Thought he might be a wexford hurler as a back??

Thought Dundon at wing forward was strange myself. He was an excellent back with the 20s. Is he with the seniors at all at the moment? Couldnt believe the size of him gone he looks like he's put a huge amount of work in the gym

Dundon might solve a problem for us as regards ball winning forwards down the line. Agree he's unlikely to be a big scorer, but then you never know. He scored a point from midfield for his club in their SF last year. Simon Roches shooting is improving game on game, and he was a back too.
Corcoran was hurler of the year in 2023/24, my mistake on the year, but definitely hurler of the year, not sportsperson of the year. Got his award off Cheddar Plunkett in April of that year. Started Freshers at wingback, and did so well he made their Fitzgibbon starting team at cornerback. Not too many lads go from Freshers to Fitzgibbon in the same year. He was captain of SETU Carlow for a game or 2 before last Xmas, playing midfield, think Dundon was injured.

To be honest I think we'd need him more as a forward than a back.

Corcoran was part of the harriers senior panel last year but mainly sub appearances.

Similar with the young brown lad who was on the county under 19 development panel

Watched those u19 games, Darragh Browne got some nice scores, workrate was very good too.
We took it more seriously than we did in 2024, some of the lads are going well with the u20s so far this year.

Biggest issue with Browne is size

U20s playing in Cork tomorrow evening if anyone wants to go to PUC and support them. They've been going ok so far this year in challenge games.

Both stands in Páirc Uí Chaoimh sold out so if anyone is going it will be terrace only. They're expecting over 25k for it.
Compare that to the 1800 brave souls that went to see ourselves and Antrim!!

Important that we hit the ground running tomorrow. Can't afford to slacken off at any stage.
Carlow will believe they can beat us on our turf.
Ground is bound to be heavy so its hard to predict how our inexperienced lightweight team will fare.
Another brace of points is vital before we come to grips with Clsre and the Dubs.
Hopefully we get a good home support but I doubt it based on our first two games.
The three Cs is what we need right now. That is commitment, concentration and control. If we can achieve those qualities we should come out on top.
The Barrowsiders will no doubt throw everything at us and they have some good players. They will be no pushovers.
I will give us a hesitant vote to win this one but not by much.
Verdict -- Wexford to win by 4 points.

Their opposition and ambitions are a little different to ours at the moment to be fair. I'd imagine if we were in last year's all Ireland final the Park would be selling out

I suppose if we reached or won an AI the Park would probably be full the next year, and tomorrow the 2 finalists are meeting in PUC. Be a great experience for our young lads!

They beat the 3 of the other Munster counties they have played so far, but only just.
No point reading too much into games this time of year though as the pitches, and likely the playing personnel also, will be different by the time we play any of them again, as it will only happen if we win Leinster and make the AI final.

I can fault things about your outlook Viking but I can't fault your dedication to the county and the support you give them all! Kudos and fair play.

We won't be able to afford to be leggy at the three quarters mark tomorrow like we were up in Down. With the 2 week break coming up hopefully the lads won't have been run as hard this week gone.

Very different ambitions is right.
All the talk recently here about 'culture' and why lads aren't bothered committing to Wexford hurling.

25k+ for a league game in February, 7:30pm on a Saturday evening shown live on RTE. Easy sell the game to young lads from these counties.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think we barely broke the 10k mark across our 3 home games in the Leinster Championship last year??

Team named anyways. Good to see chinner and Donohue on the bench.

Expecting a very tough game but will be good experience. We'll need to sharpen our passing and maintain our concentration and intensity. If we do that we'll win.

Anything less and Carlow are very dangerous.

Similar team named for tonight, one Ciaran in for another, and Darren Codd named to start, though he has been named to start the other games too.
Bench is stronger this time though.
