Ditribution Of All Ireland Tickets Very Divisive In Gaa Clubs

Its that time of year again when the distribution of All Ireland tickets is a source of annoyance , irritation in most Clubs whose County is not in the All Ireland
Cavan Gales one of Cavan's biggest Clubs sorry the biggest Club in Cavan has only got a handful of tickets .
Indeed I heard of one Club away out in the Country from Cavan Town who has been allocated 5 Tickets and has got 45 application in for them.
It used to be that you could contact the two Counties involved ( Kerry is definitely out for Cavan folk after we beat them in New york 1947 ) and ask for tickets. But when you look at the ruckus between Jim Mc Guinness and the Cavan manager Galligan in Breffni K S park sure you wouldn't have mush luck in Donegal
Lasy year I got one from a person at the back of the Chapel in Berkley Road. on the Sunday morning during mass.
A fellow saw me anxious going round on the beads , he enquired if it was the want in me of a Ticket and he handed me one . Wasn't a great seat but sure I got in to see Armagh beat red hot favourites County Galway . The sting in the tail was I had to pay into the plate collection twice , pay at home next Sunday and he wanted money yes extra money but settled for face vale

So you're saying a club in Cavan should get 45 tickets? Why not…Jesus H Christ. My understanding is every club in Ireland gets two tickets and they should be more than happy with that.

So it was yourself who was sitting beside me at last year's All-Ireland. It all makes sense now.
The poundshop bag full of sandwiches prepared by Mrs T before your journey down. The Sunday mass suit still on you and a badge with 'Polo Grounds 1947' on your lapel.

I'd actually echo that, by way of meaning it as a compliment.

I'd read a column or a blog by this fella, about the adventures of this Tom Smith character he's created. But it's impossible to take him seriously here, and so while his posts can be entertaining, there's no point in engaging with them.

Skitting at this comment :-)

'The adventures of tomsmith' would probably be a great read. Chapters include getting stuck in a toll for trying to use the old Irish Pound and rock, paper, scissors with a Kerry man for his all Ireland final ticket.

Yeah, I hear you. Though personally I think a little wumming can be a good thing for a forum, to generate activity. So long as it stays the right side of the line and doesn't descend into nastiness. Which, in fairness, tomsmith doesn't do.....

Tomsmith here from Cavan.
Streaker as a relative junior poster I have read your posts over the years yes all 550 of them and indeed you have come on along way from them few errors you made earlier on.
But back to the point I was making its odious that a Big club ( say Cavan Gaels ) only get a few tickets aand a we small club out in the Country gets the same amount.
Then you have sponsors looking for Tickets an d people that are not going to the game looking for Tickets looking for a Tickets for an OLd Aunt or Uncle living elsewhere who the may hope to inherit from.
So back to the salient point I say let the County Board do the draw for Club Tickets which seem to only arrive on aFRiday evening before the game so we can get ready and arrange to Travel up to Dublin .
Not everyone can just go away up on a whim , some people in Clubs away out in the Country from Cavan Town has to arrange things on a farm like Milking, and many other Farm work . Mode of thansport has to be got ready with the windscreen suitably decorated .
