Some football club championships have probably started already. Not too long to go now before all county championships are in full swing. I suppose the defending provincial winners will be the early favourites to go far. legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9066 - 08/07/2025 12:34:00 2624360 Link 0 |
Antrim - Cargin - going for 3 in a row and 7 of 9 tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1540 - 16/07/2025 11:03:22 2626021 Link 2 |
From a Tyrone point, it's 20 years from a team won back to back championships, a lot of good teams and yes Errigal should win but not without a fight.

From a Dublin point of view I think Crokes are probably on the decline now so although they may win Dublin I just can't see them winning Leinster. It was interesting to see Theo Clancy as Croke's sole representation on the Dublin panel for most of the championship. I had heard a few more opted out but surely given their recent success they should have a handful of lads involved at county level.. After Crokes you're probably only really looking at Ballyboden and maybe Na Fianna as realistic challengers. TrueBlue35 (Dublin) - Posts: 308 - 17/07/2025 10:02:48 2626223 Link 0 |

The county championships are a tough one for the national media. In soccer there are about 4 leagues in Europe that get big international attention. Not everyone would be happy about it but possibly the national media need to focus on an agreeable select few high profile county championships? legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9066 - 30/07/2025 15:51:27 2629305 Link 1 |
IS that your pitch to have the Kerry Championship on? With only 8/9 senior clubs and a bunch of well organised divisional teams, it probably is the best standard along side Dublins "super club" model. Outside of that, the odd clash of a counties main rivals might get some interest ( Stephanites v Castlebar, Corofin v Moycullen, Nemo v Castlehaven etc tirawleybaron (Mayo) - Posts: 1540 - 31/07/2025 12:23:28 2629450 Link 0 |
If it is viable for the national media to prioritise covering a select few county championships, in the interests of impartiality I'll look elsewhere. Mayo and Galway would have higher profiles in Connacht. Coolera-Strandhill of Sligo of course did fantastically well. A tricky one.

Club games get great coverage now on other platforms. You have clubber tv, in Mayo we have Mayo GAA tv showing dozens of live games. The national broadcaster has little interest in the club game and devote more time as I see it to rugby. Thank god for tg4. yew_tree (Mayo) - Posts: 11717 - 01/08/2025 09:31:33 2629587 Link 0 |

Shock in Meath Championshipship as Rathkenny have stunned current champions Dunshaughlin by 3 points! legendzxix (Kerry) - Posts: 9066 - 02/08/2025 20:49:33 2629830 Link 0 |
Men's senior hurling and football finals resulted in blowouts. Ladies senior football final blowout. All three matches over as a content long before final whistle. Don't see nor hear any discussion in the media about this topic. Maybe players are burnt out just getting to an All-Ireland final with so many matches and such little rest to recover. Anybody else have an opinion on this topic? wicklowsupport (Wicklow) - Posts: 2123 - 03/08/2025 20:25:16 2629952 Link 0 |
How come the 3 winning teams weren't burnt out ?

Would players actually opt out of Dublin panel? For what reasons? Too much commitment? HolyGhost (Kerry) - Posts: 7 - 03/08/2025 22:22:11 2629968 Link 0 |
Crokes and Dingle are favourites in Kerry, so will be favourites for Munster. East Kerry favourites for County Championship. HolyGhost (Kerry) - Posts: 7 - 03/08/2025 22:25:28 2629971 Link 0 |
