That's good but would you expect either to be starters? If you were to look at next year apart from injured guys back, who are people expecting to break through. Charlie O' Connor, Jamie Murphy and Sean Emmanuel come to mind. Michael McGiver likely to stay with U20's for another year. Anyone else from minor win in 2021 looking to make an impact or even someone like Rafferty coming in from left field. Expect to push on we need to be that bit stronger and fitter as a whole and obviously the efficiency piece with attacks has to be looked at too. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 16/07/2025 13:49:59 2626068 Link 1 |
Rian Stafford, Tadgh Martin, Rian Mcconnell and Liam Kelly would be some players id be hoping break through to at least the senior panel. Its up to them to put the work in over the next 6 months to give themselves the best chance though. As good as the 2021 all ireland winning minors were the top end talent probably isn't as good as the year before with Frayne, Caulfield, Kinsella, Gray.

Wow, that's brilliant. Great additions to the panel and both will push for starting berths. I'm sure there's other fellas who didn't commit to this year's panel for whatever reason chomping at the bit to get involved again. With strength in depth comes competition for places and an increase in standards. The more the merrier. Exciting times.

Lads, you've faced both in 2025. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9954 - 20/07/2025 00:00:23 2626584 Link 0 |
If there was a gun to my head and I had to pick a winner... Kerry. But I hope Donegal win it. There's a false modesty around Kerry that I never, ever liked. Deep down there's a superiority complex there - we're better than everyone else, and anytime they lose there's enormous toxicity expressed on their panellists and management because "we're better than everyone else". Quite simply, they're spoiled. I tell you it was a good feeling to sink them by 9 points, even if it was an 'aul round robin game. The Meath women beating them yesterday too was a good day out. Hope you do it. Up Donegal! Young_gael (Meath) - Posts: 612 - 20/07/2025 12:00:26 2626616 Link 1 |

Kerry just can't shake feeling Donegal played there final already and got the breaks. Never much luck from winning a semi final by so much . Meath 2001 dickie10 (UK) - Posts: 867 - 21/07/2025 15:11:21 2626923 Link 0 |
Yes and looks like Cork's hammering of Dublin in hurling semi did them no favours either. Although this is extremely hard to call. On the face of it, you would say Donegal have a better all rounded team and squad but Kerry are Kerry and won't be one bit afraid to win ugly even if it compromises their game plan. One of Meath's problems was their inability to get Scores from players coming from Midfield/half backline when Costello and Morris closed down. Kerry while not brilliant here are perhaps likely to do better and won't miss as much. Donegal will not shoot from distance so a traditional defensive system defending small arc may suffice if done well. Most of it will boil down to execution of skills under pressure on the day and whichever team brings greater hunger and energy to 2nd half assuming its tight a cafey in first half will win. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 21/07/2025 15:38:24 2626926 Link 0 |
Exactly - look at what happened to Cork yesterday after their semi final hammering of Dublin.

One poster above mentioned the 07-12 team above. The key for this team is not to fall into that trap and really push on from here. With such a young team and guys coming through, I think we do feel confident this is different. NYRoyal (USA) - Posts: 62 - 22/07/2025 12:23:06 2627100 Link 0 |
Donegal. They have the better system. Kerry are more free flowing and play what is in front of them which against Donegal will be a good scramble defence, organised and breaking at pace.

Donegal. This isn't that hard of a game to predict, no matter what the media tell us! Donegal have too many options from everywhere. Langan, Thompson, o donnell, gallen, Murphy, Mcbrearty, McCugh. Mcguiness will have a plan to limit o Shea and Clifford and donegal will win with quite a few to spare, by between 6-8 points if I was a betting man! Best of luck to yee

Donegal. Could see them winning without doing anything spectacular. Lots of 'safe' one pointers. Think Kerry only win if they shoot the lights out and that's easier said than done on All Ireland final day.

Inclined to agree but finals are strange days and added tension sometimes changes things. It would seem donegal would have to have some kind of system failure for them not to get through this. David Clifford and to a lesser extent Sean O'Shea's scoring exploits covering over alot of mediocrity. With the open new rules, ironically its more likely to suit Donegal who will always get shots off and more than likely very accurately. Patton is a better kickout keeper than Ryan and this is huge. Unless Kerry get a really good start and maybe a few goals thrown in, I think its Donegal's. winatallcost (Meath) - Posts: 773 - 25/07/2025 18:14:18 2627972 Link 1 |
Think it will be close.Meath got alot of joy out of Patton kickouts before Menton went off.Patton kick 3 over sideline in a row in the 2nd half under not much pressure and if he does that again Kerry will punish better than we did.I know patton was injured a while back so maybe another 2 weeks he will be fit.It will be interesting to see if Donegal push out on Kerry for 2 pointers if they dont Kerry will not miss as much as we did and if they do push out that will leave space for ball inside to clifford geaney.Kerry having beaten Armagh and Tyrone quite handily in the last 2 games and seem to peaking at the right time. Having said all that Donegal have serious pace and fittnes throughout the team and have a stronger looking bench. They look very driven and subs coming on dont weaken the team arguably strengthen it so that a major plus.Id imagine Donegal will have a slighty bigger crowd so that also could be a factor.I think Donegals hunger to win just a third all Ireland might get them over the line but by no means to say Kerry wont be hungry as they haven't won as much as they would like to have the last few years.A moment of brilliance or even a mistake could be the decisive factor.
