Congrats Kerry hard luck Donegal. Kerry were ferocious. Had their homework done and adapted their game. Unfortunately for Donegal, it was slightly like Cork, when the process wasn't working they didn't seem to be able to adapt their game to drag themselves back in. Lack of two pointers a big issue. Some of Kerrys kicking game was superb. Thought McCole did very well on Clifford but it probably opened up things for others. McGee was brilliant when he came on but felt too late. Horrible final. Two negative teams. Dire stuff. It is time now after 39 wins to split Kerry in two. You people said it about Dublin. Also time to end the GAA bias against Connacht teams. Who are always on the end of harsh decisions and have to win matches by double scores it seems. galwayford (Galway) - Posts: 2651 - 27/07/2025 17:39:51 2628303 Link 0 |
Time to split Kerry in two. And give Connacht teams a chance.

It's been a poor year of football. When was the last good game of football we saw this year? Galway v Armagh in the group stages? Kew (Galway) - Posts: 252 - 27/07/2025 17:59:05 2628323 Link 2 |

I wouldn't go as far to say awful. Some great provincial games as well. There has been much worse championships, last year being one of them. But I agree, the knock outs have been very disappointing. I think part of that was mis matches. A lot of Div 2 teams made it into the QFs but were not at the standard of the top teams when push came to shove.

Need to do something with Munster, we cant keep having one team saunter through a province, get an easy group nd peaking in the final weeks of the season - while every other province n battle royal. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4527 - 27/07/2025 18:23:44 2628339 Link 0 |

You need to back that up. What decisions have gone against teams from the West? Mayo had 2 or 3 All Irelands in their own hands and threw it away themselves.

Kerry were much the better team today. I was surprised by how poor Donegal were tactically - no change made to curb Gavin White nor Paudie Clifford!!! Commentary stated that Donegal were zonal marking - was this adapted by Jim from his soccer days. If so, he should've left it where it was. Since the rule changes, one aspect of the year that is very important again is winning possession in the midfield. Donegal's defeat wasn't due to one man but Michael Murphy looked out of his depth in today's game. Hardly surprising considering he hasn't played for two years and is thirty-five years old - the surprise for me is that he played such a key role for Donegal this year. I thought at the start of the year he'd be used as an impact sub. Comparing him with David Clifford before today's game was a media idea but unfair - one player is at the peak of their powers while the other's best days are behind him. Donegal have a young team and I'd imagine Jimmy will want to make amends for mistakes made today and will stay on for another year. Limited number of top teams so Donegal shouldn't be too far away next year considering the experience gained this year by a young team. I don't think Michael Murphy will be back next year. A great player of a past era. wicklowsupport (Wicklow) - Posts: 2119 - 27/07/2025 19:07:04 2628360 Link 0 |
Worse than last years borefest? At least this game had moments. Some superb scores and kick passing from Kerry.
