Who are the dinosaurs behind still insisting that camogie players have to wear skorts? That this is happening is 2025 is crazy! The bureaucrats behind this insistence should be named and banned from all GAA activities, including going to games! The GAA doesn't need these bullies! The first male president of the Comogie association was last year. So no it's not. Also the GAA has nothing to do with Comogie. As well as Barney correctly pointing out that the GAA have nothing to do with how Camogie is run, your other comment that's is largely administered by men is also inaccurate. Over 75% of the Camogie association's national committee members and Ard Comhairle are women. There's been a vague attempt in the media to paint this as a 'men telling women' what to wear issue, without going in to the actual detail. When in reality it's the camogie county delegates who voted to keep things as they are. It shouldn't even be an issue. Such a stupid thing to insist upon. I've listened to players in past few days on this subject,surely the decision should be on them..if over 80 percent say they want the choice then that should be that..the delegates from the counties who attended congress have a lot to answer for. I was wondering what would have happened if both kk/Dublin decided they were wearing the shorts.would both have been thrown out? Could all the counties now make the effort to protest and go ahead and wear shorts? Surely all the counties can't be thrown out of all competitions? Correct Barney and if anyone cared to look at the Camogie Association they will see that like the GAA it all comes back to the members and who they elect. The option to wear shorts was defeated in the last convention 55% to 45%. If players want something different turn up to their AGMs and make sure they elect reps who represent what they want and that will carry through to the county board and then the convention. Yes the rule is archaic but to say that players cannot do anything about it themselves is not correct but players too often see going to an AGM as too much of a burden but then complain about decisions and saying they are not consulted. As I understand it this was voted on by the camogie association in the last couple of weeks on a motion by Kerry and Tipp and 60% voted against it. Nothing to do with GAA.Camoige are their own association.I wish that the women that had taken a stand had walked off when the ref had threatened to pull the game.This rule is ridiculous in this day and age.
