Feile 2025 Clashing With The Aihqfs Again.

(Oldest Posts First)

After all the public disquiet with Feile clashing with the AIHQFs last year, they are clashing again this year. They seem to think that having the AIHQFs at 4pm and 6pm solves the problem, but it doesn't even if you own a helicopter. Especially if they are on in Thurles.
Even if they were on in Wexford Park the players, mentors, families and supporters of the clubs from the 2 counties contesting the 4pm QF would have no chance of making it to there if their Feile teams made any of the finals.
The GAA are apparently not expecting any criticism of this clash?!!!!!

I also find it incredible that the Mickey Mouse Tailteann cup gets the Sunday slot ahead of 2 x All Ireland hurling quarter finals which are on the Saturday.

Would the Joe McDonagh cup semi-finals get a stand alone double billing on a Sunday in Croke Park and shown live on RTE??

They can talk all they want about promoting hurling, but actions speak louder than words!

Pure lip service to the promotion of hurling by Jarlath Burns, the GAA and RTE.

I leave this piece below from last years MIGHTY Tailteann cup!

'Plummeting football championship attendances hit a new low on Saturday when less than 100 spectators watched the Tailteann Cup Round 3 clash between Waterford and Longford in Portlaoise.

The official attendance at Laois Hire O'Moore Park was just 75, a figure which would be easily surpassed at most club games up and down the country.'

Unfortunately it's like the language. Replaced by the tongue of the lads who introduced the big ball into here ;-)

Well just to rise the thread above the depths of the "your game is worse than ours" drivel between football and hurling exclusivists, I will comment here.

I agree with you Viking.

Could be a problem for Wexford again this year all right, if our senior hurlers happen to make the quarter-finals. I was involved in Féile last year myself, and as a result, couldn't go to our match v Clare in Thurles.

Thing is, swapping the hurling quarter-finals to the Sunday and the Tailteann Cup semi-finals to the Saturday wouldn't necessarily solve it either, because with our footballers in fine form so far this year, it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that they might still be involved then too.

Easiest solution for Wexford would be to just put Féile back a week, but then it'd be the same day as Féile Peil (to be held in Derry), and I presume people from the national Féile committee need to be in both places.

But Féile Peil could also be brought forward a week, such that it'd be held on June 21st (i.e. just swap both Féiles around). That might put Derry in some bother as June 21/22 are to be All-Ireland Football preliminary quarter-finals and Derry might be involved in those, but if they are, their match could just be fixed as one of the Sunday ones.

Problem solved. Maybe I should get a job in Croke Park! :)

NO WAY. Swapping them makes sense and causes little or no hassle.
Stop with the sense talking.

Munster hurling championship is still the standout event of the GAA calendar, nothing else comes close.
