Suppose the difference at the end of the day was that they got 0-10 against the wind and we got 0-04

I think we struggled a little bit in the first half whenever they ran at us and they always managed to hang in there

They were happy enough to sit back in the second half and we had lots of possession but we just weren't able to make it count, lacked a bit of cutting edge up front

A few shrewd football men I was talking to reckoned you did better than we would have, despite whatever drivel was posted here in the last fortnight by know nothings. Hard luck, lots to be taken from this year, go ahead and give division 2 a good rattle next year.

We appreciate your post gaelsboy.
Not a good day at the office for us today but let's hope that both our counties will do well next year.
We lost because Offaly were the better team and deserved their victory.

The amount of turn overs, and possession lost, was criminal.
We didn't make good use of the wind in 1st half, a bit slow on break & transition, and 2 x 2point efforts dropped short.
Hopefully players and management can learn from this, it's the standard we have reach for division 2 football next year.

Thanks to John and the lads, it's been a memorable and mostly enjoyable few months traversing the country.

Well done to John and the lads for what was a great year overall following them around the country. Just came up short today, looked a little tired mentally, got worse as the game went on. Hopefully next year we will have even more of a panel and will be able to rotate lads.

We need to keep john at all costs, because he gets absolutely every drop he can off all the players at his disposal. We punch above ourselves considering we can hardly win a match at underage for the last number of years. He is a great manager

Thought it was a sloppy performance which probably will annoy management more than anything.

But it was the toughest draw we could've got and so much with these competitions relies on the luck of the draw which is an element I dislike. I firmly believe we could've went away and won at any of the other venues.

Still its expectations met if not exceeded for the year ahead, the u20s were debt this year despite missing their best players and there's a possibility of us pushing on which is why retaining Hegarty is vital.

Every effort should be made to get John and his management team to stay on. Hopefully he will excited by the prospect of div2 next year.

It's a pity how it finished yesterday.

We've undoubtedly overachieved in the league this year, and promotion was a significant achievement. However, once again it feels like our season has petered out when it comes to championship football.

Over the last few years, we've managed just one Leinster Championship win, against Carlow, and we still haven't progressed beyond the quarter-finals of the Tailteann Cup. Given the expectations coming into this campaign, that has to be viewed as disappointing.

We were regarded as one of the stronger teams in the competition, yet we've been well beaten by a Fermanagh side from Division 4 and by an Offaly team that will be playing Division 3 football next year. While there have been positives throughout the league campaign, the championship ultimately fell well short of what many would have hoped for and expected.

Replying To countyman2022:  "They were severely hampered by injuries in fairness during the leauge. Worse than any team. Unlucky in Tailteann last year, lost to eventual winners Kildare by a point having beaten them in Div 3 final. Hope I am wrong- but looks a step too far."
Good Call, We were comprehensively beaten in fairness,
Offaly were better than I thought as they were well beaten by Laois at home in Championship,
Div 2 will be tough next year, we need to unearth a high end Centre Back & a high end forward.
We switched a lot in the half back line all year, we got to get that line purring.
Not looking for much am I !!!

Hopefully the lads can upset the odds.

Any up to date injury news ? Will E Nolan be OK, he was sorely missed in 2nd half last week."
Bookies were spot on

All good points though. Jack Higgins and Cian Hughes were losses for Championship this year.
Offaly were decent ok. Beat both promoted teams in the TC this year so far.....
