Replying To BarneyGrant: "Spillane on podcast is not impressed.
All Ireland football finalists of last year not on and in meantime some O'Byrne Cup rugby competition on in Croke Park. Spillane reckons it be half empty. No idea but they seem to be able to sell all sorts of junk on basis that the eventers who follow Lunster get to use our facilities for the day.
Not worth a bob to local businesses by the way as very few of them like the sort of Dublin their old folks have created through turning northside into Rotheram."
Dick Clerkin has different thoughts. Pat seems to go on a clickbait rant every week and in fairness raises a few good points now and then but looking to raise his own profile. Seems a happy man to pay for a mandatory TV licence and call RTE TV 'free to air'. Very good pod though, with both of them and Michael Verney. Is it the best free to air national GAA podcast?
I see GAA+ have some 49 euro mid season pass. They'll want to have the 4 preliminary quarter-finals at different times for that to be anyway attractive. The football provincial championship isn't setup to make the GAA+ season ticket attractive in big numbers. Cork v Kerry, Tyrone v Cavan and Meath v Dublin were on GAA+. All had the safety net of being through to the All Ireland. Even more importantly for match day attendances and good vibrant championship days out, the losers should have a hurdle or two to jump to qualify.
Could the Gaa have offered the double header in newbridge to RTÉ on Saturday?there is no coverage of any of the 2games..RTÉ havnt even got rugby on this weekend as it's covered by tg4 so that can't be used as any excuse..

Spillane wanting to raise his profile lol? He is probably the most famous face in the country when it comes to football and has been that way for nigh on 50 years now.
He'll be soon able to have a free tv licence btw so I'm sure he's speaking as someone who knows people of his era might not be tech savvy and wouldn't have the knowledge of obtaining gaapaywall to see the games

Plenty of people of his era and older are tech savvy enough to connect to GAA+ or could be shown how to connect to it.

Hopefully, but unlikely, some podcast will get a reps from RTE, GAA+ and GAA to explain reasoning behind having some games not on GAA+ and why some were on RTE or TG4. Are GAA offering some games or not, are they happy with RTE coverage of live games or is it purely to drive up GAA+ revenue?
