Will be tough alright, but we can sleep soundly in our beds at night knowing we have 40 Ulster Titles and a 5 All-Irelands i the trophy cabinet! Monaghan have another 24 Ulster Titles and 5 All-Ireland's to win to catch up on us!

We should also stop living in the past. Its like saying Cornafean are kings of Cavan because of the 40s and 50s.

Nobodys living in the past but you can remember the past, the past history and history recalls that we won 40 Ulster Titles and 5 All Irelands! Should we now forget Dublin seeing as they havent won anything in 2 years? Pologrounds2025 (Cavan) - Posts: 23 - 01/04/2025 15:26:33 2599964 Link 0 |
What future is Monaghan heading to? the one where they wont win an Ulster Title and certainly wont win an All-Ireland, so no matter what direction Cavan and Monaghan are heading, the end result will be the same!

Championship coming up soon. Omagh is going to be tough. Wondering does anyone know the word on Oisín Brady or Paddy Lynch? Be great to have them back in the panal. Or does anyone know anything on Tiarnán Madden? He added a lot last years, but no sign this year. Cavan67 (Cavan) - Posts: 19 - 01/04/2025 15:37:04 2599967 Link 0 |

Yes but wouldn't be bragging about a past that very few if any were around to see

Just checked 1950 all ireland there was it also played in the winter like 2020 cos its very slow and foggy maybe it was just the footage Farneyblueandwhite (Monaghan) - Posts: 35 - 01/04/2025 18:17:18 2600005 Link 0 |
Monaghan, the plucky Kings of the league run, winning admiration from neutrals, and annual winners of the beat Dublin in January award haven't won anything meaningful in the last decade of senior football. Its five years since Cavan last won Ulster. Its 10 since Monaghan battered their way to a win over a football playing Donegal. Bar a few nippy forwards, who are generally ineffective in the heat of championship, you're now reliant on an ageing goalkeeper to get you scores. Come down out of the clouds. You're no better than we are.

1950 All Ireland was played on the 24th September 1950, between Mayo & Louth, refereed by the great Simon Duignan from Cavan, Simon played for Cavan in the 1947 and 1948 All Ireland's and has more All Ireland's than Monaghan have in their history! I can understand why you think September is in Winter, because every September, Monaghan were nowhere to be seen come All Ireland day! Every day is dreary and foggy in Monaghan

1983 is a long long time since cavan beat Tyrone but I think if yous apply the same get up for it as a monaghan fixture yous could be there or thereabouts Farneyblueandwhite (Monaghan) - Posts: 35 - 02/04/2025 13:36:27 2600112 Link 0 |
no we'd need to play much better, Tyrone are a serious county with All Ireland pedigree. To quote your own assessment of Monaghan ' The day that monaghan beat a Tyrone donegal kerry dublin mayo or Galway in a knockout championship match in croker is the day when we're going somewhere'. The reality is the current Monaghan crop crumble when they meet Cavan in championship football, and we are no world beaters. In terms of enjoyment (and there is little as a Cavan supporter) I'd rather not win the all Ireland but stick one on our old rivals than not win the all Ireland (again) and capitulate to an old rival (again)

You'll need to trawl / troll the Mayo or Louth boards for any questions on the 1950 All Ireland my learned friend
