Replying To letsgetgoing:  "If two teams finish level on points in the league table, I presume that it comes down to the head to head match between them to determine who might get promotion/relegated etc. (Not scoring difference)
If three or more teams finish on equal points I presume that the total scoring difference over the league comes into play?
Might have big implications in the championship for some division 2 teams.
Am I correct?"
I think so. Last year:

'When teams finish with equal points for qualification for the concluding stages, or for promotion or relegation, the tie shall be decided by the following means and in the order specified:

(i) Where two Teams only are involved - the outcome of the meeting of the two Teams in the previous game in the Competition;

(ii) Where three or more teams are involved - scoring Difference (subtracting the total Scores Against from total Scores For);

(iii) Highest Total Score For;

(iv) Highest Total Goals For;

(iv) A Play-Off'

In their four league games so far Dublin have scored 4-72 with, believe it or not only one solitary point from a free, Bugler v Kerry

And on the other side the Dubs have conceded 16 points from frees, bad discipline or raw deal from refs?

Good win for Monaghan over the Division 2 Munster losing semi-finalists aka Cork. Bad loss for Tipperary at home to London when a push for promotion on the cards. Limerick's win away to Carlow has them in the promotion picture.

Great win for Kerry V Tyrone up in Pomeroy. Tyrone never scored from they took the penalty and they had 10 minutes playing with two extra men.

Was the 3x3 rule removed before the Galway v Donegal match was thrown-in? Must have missed that decision at Congress.

Between the wind and the 2 pointers, I don't like what I'm seeing here in Galway.
It's very peculiar.
Don't get me wrong, some nice scores.
But the goal is our prize, I feel.it lessens the drive to score them, it's changed the whole shape of the game and I personally don't like it.
I'm not saying I'm right, but it's my opinion for what it's worth.
What do others feel?

Unbelievable shock in Navan as 2025 All Ireland champions Roscommon managed by the Messiah Davy Burke defeated 2-18 to 0-17 by Meath.

I understand where you're coming from realdub. I'm still not sure about the 2 pointers. If they are to stay I do think a goal should be 4 points. On the whole I do think the games are much more enjoyable but I think the 3v3, kickout rule and solo and go are the main drivers of that.

On the Galway game it's typical Salthill game of 2 halves. Galway will have their backs to the wall in the second half and will do well to score especially now with 14 men. Shocking red card decision. Wasn't even a free in my opinion. Can't shoulder a fella anymore it seems

I agree. It is so much harder to engineer a clearcut goal chance than to kick a couple of two-pointers. Goals have been devalued so there is a lesser incentive to go for them.

Don't give up the day job any time soon. Well done the Royals. The better team today.

2 pointers are grand as long as they make a goal worth 4. People complain about goalies coming outfield to play but there isn't enough danger with the goal only worth 3. I like goalies playing outfield but there has to be an element of.higher risk involved.

Wins for Kerry and Galway in Division 1. A shock loss in Navan alright. Division 2 favourites and All Ireland contenders Roscommon beaten by Meath. Important win for Louth over Down.
All 4 provincial winners from last year currently make up the top 4 in Division 1. Armagh then in 5th.

A 'shock' in February, how do? Davy has a long summer ahead. Won't be perturbed by that result. Is he living on the Meath or Kildare side of Kilcock do you know? Always curious to know what county The Messiah lives in.

Hardly an unbelievable shock...Meath are definitely going place. When we played them i couldn't get over the size and mobility they have, plus a good bench. Its usually one or the other in a team.

We had a really strange game v Westmeath. With the new rules and the wind it became almost impossible to get out of your own half on a kickout into the wind. Strangely too being down by 12 and HT i wasn't worried. We scored 10 points in 11 minutes with the wind at the start of the second half. Westmeath had no answer in the same way we had none in the first half. Cavan sat on the ball for long period in the first half to load groans. It proved to be the correct approach. A few dead bounces today and the pitch really cut up.

The new rules do make the refs and linesmen look like idiots at times but they are only implementing what they've been told. It was the same in Mullingar today and 50 meters seems to be an unknown distance.

You would think Donegal would be used to playing in strong winds. I remember reading an article about the Donegal teams in the past played a short passing running game because that is how they grew up playing because of the weather.
