Replying To Belclare7:  "Roscommon almost guaranteed to replace Mayo in Div 1 next year, Monaghan replacing Tyrone"
Roscommon yes, Monaghan no.

Just saw the tussle between Donegal's Michael Murphy and the Armagh player. Why was the Armagh player sent off? A head butt is head-to-head, not head fairly gently to chest. Can anyone give a rational reason for this

Fair enough... I'll tell you. The infraction is a strike or attempting to strike with the head. Nothing to do with head butts or head to head. Doesn't even have to connect to be red carded. Category 4 incident carrying a minimum proposed 2 match penalty.

Replying To legendzxix:  "Good win for Roscommon over Monaghan. Are Roscommon now favourites for the All Ireland after the recent success of Division 2 counties?"
No, Kerry are still favorites. Sure, they always only motor in second gear in the league. Put the money on the yorras!

All counties on 1 win are at risk of relegation from Division 1. Losing 2 home games is very bad. Awful in fact.
Counties on 2 wins are in a good position to challenge for promotion from Division 2. Counties on 1 win need to secure status and All Ireland qualification. Louth, Down, Cavan and Westmeath to be battling for 2 potential All Ireland spots over the remaining 4 rounds.
Kildare and Offaly on 3 wins are in a good position in Division 3. With Clare paired with Tipperary or Waterford in Munster, only the Division 3 winner at best might gain All Ireland qualification. Leitrim will be relegated. They have lost too many players. Sligo without a point in danger also.
Wexford and Tipperary going well in Division 4. Wicklow challenging also. Limerick after Division 2 football a few years ago seem destined to remain in D4.

Roscommon certainly look a level above anything in division 2, but there's very little between the next 7. Wouldn't be hanging my hat on Monaghan, they have to go and do it

I wouldn't be hanging my hat on Roscommon taking 2 points way from Navan and Pairc Ui Chaoimh either. All to play for in Division 2.

Donegal looked very impressive in their win over Armagh yesterday and it was great to see Michael Murphy back in action and he made an immediate impact… Armaghs Aiden Forker really let himself and his teammates down with his embarrassing altercation with the fore mentioned Murphy when he came on… He should get an extra long suspension for such behaviour…… He should feel ashamed and embarrassed of himself after such stupidity…!

Good one Peiledoir. The ridiculous headbutt by the goat will mean that he will have to spend more time in his pen. Looking forward to seeing Donegals GOAT again over the summer. Some player!

I likened him to an old mountain goat yesterday. But the old mountain goat would have had a higher IQ than to do it right in front of the ref.

Fairly obvious reason if you think about it rationally.

It was a headbutt to the chest.

Absolutely, these next 2 weeks are huge for Ros. Two very tough away games. Meath got a good win at the weekend and Cork had our number 2 years ago in championship. Neither of them will fear Roscommon

If he punched him in the chest would that be ok too?? It was a strike with his head, and he attempted it twice, Murphy pushed him back the first time. I hope he is punished accordingly. Trying to be the big man and rough up Murphy after his return and the crowd reaction. Made himself look quite silly!

A head butt is when you hit somebody using your head. Where does it say it has to be head to head. Such a ridiculous post and I doubt anyone would describe it as "fairly gently to chest" as you do here. Get a grip.

Cork had your number a bit of exaggeration. They won by one point and the winning score deep into added time that came from a referee error.

Roscommon v Monaghan was the annual Division 1 game in Division 2. There has been a consistent enough top 10 in recent years. The challenge is for Meath, the Munster losing semi-finalists in Division 2 aka Cork, Cavan, Down and I suppose Kildare to close that gap.
Terrible for Cavan to be scrambling to save their All Ireland bacon. Their upcoming games against Westmeath and Down will make a big difference to their summer.

Roscommon's form is way ahead of last years for me. Granted it's Division 2 and not 1, only 3 games in, but there's a real bounce to them. Davy Burke has them playing like a team mad keen to adapt, take advantage of these new rules and play in the front foot.

If two teams finish level on points in the league table, I presume that it comes down to the head to head match between them to determine who might get promotion/relegated etc. (Not scoring difference)
If three or more teams finish on equal points I presume that the total scoring difference over the league comes into play?
Might have big implications in the championship for some division 2 teams.
Am I correct?
