Seems he's objecting to paying managers regular wages with Tax, PRSI etc but has no objection to under the counter black economy cash in hand stuff??

I would be pretty certain that he is not part of that in Vinnies nor was when with Dublin footballers and hurlers. There are believe it or not still people who run teams for reasons other than money. Strange to tell...

Depends on your situation financially I guess. The hours managers are putting in is unreal these days. I've been part of management teams at club level and it's off the charts. You're on the phone half the day alone and juggling your regular job.

He's probably right, we probably are heading towards professionalism. tearintom (Wexford) - Posts: 1466 - 26/11/2024 10:27:33 2581281 Link 1 |
Unless you are claiming to be chairman of his club or county, you have no clue what he gets or doesn't get for managing teams. These payments aren't broadcasted for many reasons so quit acting like you have the golden key to the secret files here.

Why attack my fellow Donegal man when all he was stating was the truth? I'd say there's people working for the Revenue who would only be dieing to know the ins-and-outs of the payments being made all over the country at club level, never mind county! I have nothing to hide from the revenue, why should some gaa people especially if they are not officially getting paid.

Well that's the elephant in the room here. Noone is "officially" getting paid, but sure *wink* *nod*

Pay no heed to Him Lockjaw, he's on trolling to see who'll bite. I wouldn't bother replying to the likes of him.

I can promise you with all sincerity I am not a troll or anywhere near one. I try to keep abreast of all the happenings big and small from the top to the very bottom but in particular I will favour and support the underdog first and foremost, I support Carlow and I lend my support to others. I post what I think is worth posting, I will respond to a post(er) should I think it's worthwhile. There are a few posters here who post their fair of rubbish and have no trouble in finding some one to bite. For the record again I am not a troll and it truly hurts me that some out there thinks I am. I have better things to do. Neither am I a WUM. supersub15 (Carlow) - Posts: 3144 - 26/11/2024 17:44:32 2581351 Link 2 |
It was on the paper. he said it was one of the reasons he left. He wasn't for letting Leinster play in croke park and felt the GAA were more focused on making money by any means and haven't any plans or need for the money.

33 County Boards and a few thousand Clubs would only love to get a spare of said money.

Some of it is genuinely needed to pay bill's, the latest readings suggest that Mayo's finances have been in better shape. Looks like pat gilroy might be right, the Gaa and money.announce that for upper tier league games under 16s will be charged €5 euro entrance..this is at a time when most grounds won't be quarter full,so why charge..a family going will now fork out an extra 10er per game with 2 kids..come on,please don't tell me it's because they want to know the attendance..think it's a pure sign of greed..they have changed season ticket aswell which isn't the same value as it was..am I seriously missing something?? This is a genuine question. Do other sports charge for U16s?

I don't honestly know..I havnt heard..if we compare the highest level of soccer and rugby they have players wages to be paid.I don't know what happens in ail rugby or club soccer.I havnt heard of underage teams being charged but I could be completely wrong..where will the Gaa decision leave clubs who bring a bus load of kids to league games,it will mean every kid will have to have a adult with them..if 20 underage players attend,it's adding €100 to Gaa..is it all about the safety side of things or is this part of the revenue investigation that was announced last week?id like to get others idea on all this.. It smacks of greed, whatever the excuse about trying to deter unaccompanied teenage troublemakers. To deter those just insist kids are accompanied by an adult. 90% of the children at League games are belonging to parents who put countless hours and a significant amount of their disposable income into the GAA as it is. There are very few bandwaggoner types brave a frosty or stormy afternoon or evening to support their county teams January to March.
